Deadpool and Wolverine (SPOILERS!)

Hello! This is my first blog where I am reviewing Deadpool and Wolverine. Beware of spoilers!

*

 Are they gone?

 Okay, let's begin!

This is one of my favourite MCU movies in the post-Endgame years, right up there with Guardians 3, No Way Home, and Multiverse of Madness. It is tied with Guardians 3 as my favourite Phase Five project. Just like the other Deadpool movies, it's hilarious, but it balances its comedy with serious moments. And with the whole immortality thing, the violence (which would personally disturb me otherwise) is treated like looney tunes in its comedic sense.

The jokes and cameos about Fox characters are AMAZING. I saw the movie on opening day, and the cheers of the audience were epic to be a part of. My favourite was probably Chris Evans. I thought he'd be Cap. Deadpool thought he'd be Cap. Wolverine had no idea what was going on. The audience thought he'd be Cap. BUT HE WAS THE HUMAN TORCH! And Gambit?? Blade?? AWESOME!

This movie is a love letter and the wholly-needed closure to the Fox universe. The Green Day montage at the end had me cry, even if the majority if the Fox movies was well before my time. And LOL at the logo in the void, xD.

As always, the soundtrack is impeccable. Bye Bye Bye at the first fight is awesome, and the Like A Prayer at the climax is also legendary. I also want to put to your attention the Canada jokes. As a Canadian, this is funny. I love the Nice Sorry Deadpool and his puppy, along with Deadpool not taking any smack about our lovely country. I wish they did more with both characters being Canadian, it would have been funny.

I understand the complaints of the marketing "queerbaiting" the ship between Deadpool and Wolverine, but the truth is that the marketing is very much satire. So much of the comedy of Deadpool is a direct result of current events. Not so much events that get outdated, but trends that will be remembered. This movie tackles topics like Fox being bought by Disney, the MCU not being the powerhouse it used to be, and the current climate of Generation Z (my generation :>) coming into age and the impacts we already have on our society. The "queerbaiting" is just another layer to the comedy. It makes fun of studios and groups of men in general having that "bromance" that reeks of more-than-platonic love, but not wanting to cross the line of being queer in nature. It makes fun of how normalized this is. It's satire, people.

Overall, I LOVE this movie. Definitely a thumbs up from me. I recommend this to anyone needing a laugh, and especially superhero fans in general. I hope you enjoyed this blog and see you later!

PS: I saw this movie with my aunt in Michigan. She didn't know much about the Fox universe, and during the montage, she wondered why Star Trek Captain was with Hugh Jackman. I said, "Show some respect! That is Professor X!"

PPS: The theatre I saw the movie at sold Deadpool and Wolverine friendship necklaces. I tried to get some for my friend Ravenheart and I. I was going to be Wolverine, LOL. But they were sold out :C :C :C
