You can go on the layout tab, pick the one you like and copy and paste the code (it should be in a box) and put it into the about me section!, also you can put blinkies or stamps by copying the image address, and putting into any of the sections in your profile. Hope this helps!
Did you make sure you copyed the image address and not the image itself? That could cause it. It could also be caused by it not being correctly, like if you didn't put the "" around the image address

i tried blinkies but the image wont appear :( it just shows blank image block
