Got the news that my brother's godmother Aloma Civet passed away this morning, of causes yet unknown. She had been living in Paris for many years, but spent the last few in a small country town near the south of France.
She was a lovely woman, very cultured and travelled around a lot as one of her ex husbands was the manager for a few airline companies. I first remember seeing her in 1974 when my brother Lee Western was christened, and then a few months later we went over to Paris for a few weeks to visit her and her husband Guy.
I remember going up the Eiffel Tower, seeing the Arc de Triomphe, Monte Marte, an outside circus, and a play about the battle of Waterloo.
Mum and Dad recorded a conversation with me talking about my holiday in Paris later that year, and I've still got the tape somewhere which I'm going to upload to Mixcloud very soon.
Aloma visited Australia a few times after 1983, and we had heaps of family gatherings for her as well as her son Johann.
She will be missed by myself and my relatives. RIP Auntie Aloma.
