Hi! I really like kandi and friendship bracelets and wanted to show off some of my favorite pieces I’ve made over the years. Unfortunately I don’t really have any new pictures as my joint issues have been getting worse and it’s really difficult to create things sometimes.
I’ve been making kandi for about 4 years now. The editing on the older pictures definitely shows its age. I’m going in chronological order so hopefully you think the editing is better as it goes on. Here is my kandi-patterns account if any one is interested. I don’t have a lot of published patterns but I have a lot more pictures posted if you want to see more.
This is my second multistitch. My first one was a superman cuff, but I made it too small and couldn’t wear it. I have a batman t-shirt I used to wear with this one all the time.
Flesh cuff. I had a lot of extra tiny babies lying around, so I couldn’t resist making this one. This is my second UFO cuff. I like the first one I made a lot (black base with green+purple accents, and white star beads), but this one is more fun. Most of my 3d cuffs are UFOs, I would just customize them with little things. In this case babies, in another case I entrapped worms on strings.
Almost exactly the same as the last one, just made bigger because it was for someone else. He graduated before I did, and we were never super close so it took me like 3? years before I saw him irl again. I become attached to the things I make so parting with this was bittersweet.
Bears in Trees singles! These get a lot of use to this day. BiT is my favorite band ever, so I couldn’t just not make bracelets for them. I’ve made more over the years as more songs came out. Fresh concrete was still a new song at this point (its 3 years old now). In order the beads say:
- Bears in trees,
- Sitting pretty (the first BiT song I ever listened to and one of my favorites).
- Sitty pretting (misspelling. I was too lazy to fix it).
- Seaside.
- It gets better.
- Don’t drink coffee.
- Fresh concrete.
- Laugh/cry (with a heart as the /).
- Ibuprofen (I lost this one :(. I got a jar of these in tj max for $5. I haven’t been able to find those exact beads in store, and online its like $20 a jar).
- I am cold.
My one and only mask, but technically not the only one I’ve made. That one I made so someone else and never got paid for it. This mask I would wear to school over my mask when the mask mandate was still a thing. I usually never wore it all day though as between beads, an actual mask, my glasses, and sometimes earrings it was a lot on my head. This picture is very of its time between the editing and froggy hat. I was one of the weird kids can you tell.
I think this perler is cute and I thought I ate with the editing at the time. Idk maybe I did. Some of the beads glow in the dark. The @ at the bottom is from an Instagram account I used to share with a few people from kandi-patterns. No one has used that account in a while though, but it was fun while it lasted.
Another swag animal perler. I thought I was hot shit with that cloud editing. Another picture for the Instagram account.
A 3ds picture! Not technically kandi but I am wearing a kandi bag. I just think the picture is swag. I drew over my friend’s face on my 3ds. I did that for privacy reasons obviously.
The bag in the picture. With the exception of the strap (I took if from an old Harry Potter bag), everything is made from beads. I don’t use it as much as I used too but it’s pretty functional (although a little heavy). I can fit my phone, 3ds, a sketchbook, wallet, and lose makeup and pens. Since I took this picture I added two keychains: a carebear mirror and a yellow kandi heart my friend gave me.
The chain I’m wearing in the last photo. I didn’t get any clips until recently, so I never wore it as much as I would have liked to. I would tie it to my belt loops with elastic and cut it off when my jeans needed to be washed. I still haven’t attached it to those clips yet. I also spilled bright orange paint on the crotch of this jeans. I kept it, intended to dye it brown or black and just never did that either.
I read a lot so this book cover gets the most use out of all the kandi I’ve made. I collect a lot of used and old books, so it’s important to me that they’re protected while I read them. After being traumatized by the state of one of the books my sister kept in her backpack (the cover torn off), I made this. It works really well. I made it to fit most mass market paperbacks pretty tight, so I can throw books in my bag without fearing any bending or tearing. The book in this photo is the Obsession by David Shobin. I haven’t read it yet, but I did read the Unborn also by David Shobin. It is NOT good, don’t read, don’t waste your time.
I hope yall enjoyed at least some of these. I make a lot of friendship bracelets too so I’m probably gonna make another post about those too.
