An Inside Look into Chapter 1 (Part one)

DISCLAIMER: This is a concept I wanted to work on from the get-go, so you're still getting them. Every post at the moment will be connected to a published chapter, which is much less stressful than picking an unrelated/unintroduced topic. They'll also be brief, to hopefully avoid overloading either of us lol. The goal is to make these understandable whether or not you've actually read the chapter, so if in the future I lose you somewhere please let me know! As always, feel free to ask questions or leave suggestions for future topics, as the direction would be appreciated :)

In Chapter 1, you're introduced to 3 of the main characters: Lori-Mae, who is the POV character; Leo, the overconfident extrovert; and Catrina, the stand-offish royal. You also meet the Headmistress (not the nicest person) and watch Lori-Mae have a panic attack (not very well-written).

You learn early on that Lori-Mae spent much of her childhood and early teens in hospital admission, and was very sick. She never names her sickness, for one main reason: She doesn't know it. Her doctors had multiple guesses but nothing lined up correctly, and the true answer was hidden from her so for the moment it's hidden from you as well. While she missed out on a lot of things during childhood, there was one bonus; her father (a historian) came to visit every day and tell her stories, mainly about the fae and the Celestials. Her favorites were about Seren, the god of dreams and chance.

Fun Fact: Lori-Mae's last name is Crewse, which I stole from my own family tree because I liked it /lh

Now for Leo; his name is actually Leopold and he's named after one of my mom's stuffed animals, a white snow leopard that she's had since she was 14. He's very self-assured and can come across as a bit egotistical because of that, but he's a good kid. He's loyal to a fault and will gladly put others' lives before his own, and he's also very much a people person where the others are not - this comes in handy later in the story :) He has a lot going on, but you'll learn about that as we go; and to anyone who Has read the chapters so far, he is not a (romantic) love interest.

I'd love to go into Catrina and the Headmistress now, but I have a child that needs breakfast, critters that need fed and a chapter that desperately needs finished lol. So, I'll be making another post soon to introduce them and give ya'll some bonus info about Chapter 1. Thank you so much for the support!!
