Metal Gear Solid 1

The long awated sequel! for this Im going through mgs1 and at the end of each boss fight Ill be recaping what happens in that "chapter" so not only will this entry be longer is will also feature more depth on charaters and the likes overall there will probably be 6-7 chapters. The amount of cut scenes in all of mgs is infamous and its surprising that Kojima waited this long to try and make a movie. This game about 7th chronologically and 3/4 (if you count Snakes Revenge) in release. as always i recomend you play this game for yourself, as I will inevitably forget something, and I am brushing over the acual gameplay so its really not the same experiance, I recomend buying from GOG galaxy cuz right now its like 7 quid (I got it for like 1 cuz it was on sale).

2005: Alaska, Shadow Moses (a nuclear wepons desposal facility in Alaskas Fox Archipelago)

Our protagonist "Solid Snake" makes yet another apperance as he is tasked to infiltrate a nuclear facility that has recantly been overtaken by his former group "Foxhound", this group contains 6 main members... "Liquid Snake"(the leader, and man with the same fursona as our man), "Psycho Mantis"(an actual real life psychic, however that works), "Vulcan Raven" (hes actually a pretty normal guy, no tragic backstory or anything he just absolutely massive and part of the Inuit tribe in North America), "Sniper Wolf" (named one of the best marksmen in the world, she was also raised by Big Boss to be a soldier), Revolver Ocelot (fastest gun slinger in the west even though he's Russian and the cause of literally everything that is wrong in the mgs universe, my bbg <3), and last and probably worst "Decoy Octopus" (we... dont meet him at all, he dies real fast, he was Mexican apparently though). Foxhound demands two things from the US government, the remains of Big Boss and 1 billion dollars, if these demands are not met in 24 hours they will launch a nuke at Russia hoping to start a nuclear war.

This is where our man Snake comes in, he has been chilling in Alaska as a musher (dog sled racer and had around 50 huskys at his prime... jesus thats alot of dogs) since the events of Metal Gear 2 and has been kidnapped by his former Foxhound commander Roy Campbell to fix the US's problems, he has two objectives... 1, rescue the two hostages (the DARPA chief Donald Anderson, and the Arms Tech president Kenneth Baker) and 2, find out if Foxhound can launch a nuke and if they can stop them. As always, its a solo mission with equipment and weapons OSP (On Site Procurement).

Snake sucessfully gets into the building using a diversion form Campbell and Snake finds they have a Russian gunship. He gets into the building and to the DARPA chief in the cells, they talk and the chief reveals that the terrorists can launch a nuke with a metal gear that was being built there for the US military to put into mass prodution. the MG can be disarmed by either the chiefs and Bakers code, or three PAL key cards. However the terrorists found the Chiefs code via mind reading from Mantis. Suddenly the DARPA Chief collapses dead, Snake calles Campbell but he doesnt know anything but according to Naomi dies of a heart attack.

Snake goes to the 2nd floor basement where Baker is being held by Ocelot. Snake does a shoot out against Ocelot, after a while, Ocelot will judge Snakes skill depending on how well he does before an invisable force appears slices through all the C4 then slices off his right hand (rembember this, it will turn into one of the stupidest plot point in the series).

The cyborg ninja is electrocuted, then runs off. Snake sits Baker down and asks about his code, he says that Ocelot tortured it out of him and that while he had mental re-enforcments against mind reading he never got any training on torture. Snake asks if the DARPA chief also had those re-enforcements and Baker affims this, meaning that the Chief couldnt have given them the code, either way Snake tells Baker that the Chief is dead and Baker suddenly gets realy angry at Snake, saying something about the pentagon. When he calms down they start talking about the terrorists (Foxhound) and their motivations, Baker suspects that they are like him "always waiting for the next war", but not all is lost just yet Baker had given is PAL key card to the woman in the cells that ends up being Campbell niece, Meryl, and instructs him to call her on his codec (he says that her number is on the back of the games CD case breaking the 4th wall and annoying me every time i play becasue i dont have the fucking case its 140.15 btw) then tells Snake to go find the lead designer of Metal Gear REX (REX being the code name of the MG) Hal Emmerich (my fav charater- excluding Ocelot) because if anyone has any idea of a way to destroy REX, its him.

Baker then goes on to talk about how badly everyone deals with nuclear weapons and how easy it is to have a nuclear weapons program, the amountof unaccounted for material and the amount of cold war scientists that were out of a job after the war makes keeping nuclear detterance in America hard and how they needed a trump card, a weapon to powerful that is would stop any other country from trying to launch. Thats where Metal Gear REX came in, a walking nuke that could launch from anywhere in the world was that trump card.

Baker gives Snake a optical disk of all the data from the real life experiaments of REX. Snake asks about that cyborg ninja that attacked Ocelot and Baker says that its Foxhounds "dirty little secret" and to ask Dr Naomi Hunter about it. Then in a sinkingly familiar way the Arms Tech President collapses of another heart attack. Snake immediately calls Campbell but he says he doesnt know anything, Snake is distrusful but asks Naomi about the ninja to no avail, and at this point Snakes limited trust in his support team is destroyed, Campbell says to call Meryl and that she is more trustworthy than himself right now.

[oh my god this is just the first chapter. if i remember correctly, the rest of the game isnt as exposition heavy as the first bit (lets hope). did you know that exluding MG and MG2 Ocelot is the only character that is in all the main games (so every mgs game that isnt some kind of spin off)]
