bring back fun colours and glitter to makeup. im so tired of going into makeup stores and being met with 42 shades of brown. AND WHY IS EVERYTHING SO WARM TONED. like i absolutely love blue, silver and green eyeshadows but those seem to be almost nonexistant now, i could easily go through 2 or 3 stores without coming across a single one, its all browns and oranges with maybe a gold in there if youre lucky. and dont get me started on finding a pink lipgloss/lipstick that isnt either warm-toned or a natural shade. like i want my lipgloss to be PINK not just pink, you get me?? i need a bright obnoxious pink thats slightly too light for my skin thats also cool or neutral toned and actually applies product to my lips. cause thats another thing as well, why are products nowadays so un pigmented, like i have to use about 40 layers just for it to be somewhat noticable on my skin, even the darker shades. when i buy a black eyeshadow, i want black not grey or i wouldve just bought grey. and i know that black eyeshadows are never really going to be pitch black but i shouldnt have to touch pan just to get it to resemble black. this natural makeup trend is honestly the bane of my existence. no offense to anyone who likes natural makeup but its so boring, i genuinely dont see the appeal - like why would i want to spend about an hour on my makeup just to look like i put on some mascara, blush and lipgloss when it would save time and money to just put on blush mascara and lipgloss. i also find it really unhelpful as i often struggle to remember peoples faces unless they really catch my eye, now a lot of people end up looking the same to me because they dont have any stand out features like at all. i also feel like it makes people feel more insecure with themselves but thats a whole other rant that i think i might have already gone on. and while were at it, i think we also need to bring back pencils and powders cause these liquid products arent cutting it for me anymore. liquid eyeliners in particular might actually be the death of me, felt tip liners get everywhere but where i want them to go because of the angle i hold them at and the brushes in brush liners start to fray after a while, leaving lines where i dont want them. liquid foundation also just doesnt want to work with my skin, it always separates and i can never seem to put it on evenly in the first place, theres also the fact that it seems to cling to every single bump and curve your skin may have and highlight them - ive never had that problem with my powder foundation. and setting sprays, while i havent actually used one, i dont understand how they would hold your makeup on like a powder would, especially since you cant see where the droplets land like you can with powder so it seems like it would be harder to get an even coat. and while were on the topic of products that were popular in the beauty guru era of makeup; liquid lipsticks, specifically matte liquid lipsticks. they fucking suck. now thankfully they arent as popular anymore, i know i havent seen one in forever, but OH MY DAYS they were awful. they would always cling to every crease in your lips and just make you look a bit dehydrated, more so than regular lipsticks, like quite a lot more. never really understood the hype around them, but everyone used to swear by then since those kylie lip kits dropped.

bring back fun makeup

Yeah everyone wantz a clean natural girl aesthetic 2 where ppl dont think they're wearing makeup. I know Hot Topic should have some makeup palettes with more diverse colors and i have bought some colorful eyeshadow palettes from the Dollar Tree but i can confirm they are not that good. Wet n' Wild does have some more unique colors and the colors mostly aren't pale. Their 'Stop Playing Safe' palette has a blue green and teal, but most of the rest are warm tones colors. Their color icon glitter and regular singles are offered in some unique colors. The regular has blue, green, a decent looking black, and a plum colored purple. Thier glitter singles come in orange, kind of a magenta/ hot pink color, silver and black. Again for more unique colors Hot Topic would be your best bet. Hope this helps <3
unfortunately i dont think they have hot topic in the uk, if they do its not near me. might have to check out the other brands mentioned though

No literally I miss authentic early 2000s makeup and people genuinely having fun with makeup without feeling judgedโฆ.not everyone should follow trends.
the worst part is that no one in real life really cares. i go out in full gyaru all the time and no one bats an eye.

this is so real
i recommend going into beauty supply stores to get more pigmented, colorful makeup since its catered towards darker skin. i love wearing blue and light eyeshadow (u can see in my pfp) and i got my 2 dollar pallet from there and it works well.

the death of creative makeup is the death of me i fear
i dont thin there is a beauty supply store near me :(. theres hair supply stores but they dont do makeup.

Honestly, I find the ''natural'' makeup trend to be very redundant, because if you can't even see the fact that someone is wearing makeup (with the exception of foundations and concealers for acne and other blemishes), then they might as well not even be wearing any makeup at all.
I wish companies would understand that not all of us want to wear something that blends in with our skin and that some of us would like to rock the smokey eye look or some other look that makes us stand out from the crowd.
i would pay good money for a brand that has bright colours, especially lipsticks/glosses. i need a light but bright pink lipstick to complete my makeup but they just dont seem to exist anymore.

Also, warm toned makeup may not suit those with neutral undertones (like myself) very well (especially if it's cool leaning), and won't suit those with cool undertones at all.

i cant really wear foundation because of this, they never have the right undertones in my shade. some of the lighter shades can find other undertones than warm but it seems to be around my shade that they decide to start making everything orange for no reason...

Personally, I don't wear makeup often, but when I do, i like it to be obvious im wearing makeup, because it colourful. And you perfectly summarised my point with the "why waste an hour" statement, but when I'm performing on STAGE whilst dancing, I need extra makeup, because ppl won't see that boring ass beige makeup with neutral shimmer from 20+ metres away!! WHILST MOVING!!!! And with the black you honestly have no idea how much of a pain it is to reapply during the half time
same with white?? Cause obviously I need to exaggerate EVE.RY.THING. For stage performances and it takes forever just to make it visible

Plus, it's sad to walk into the cosmetics store and see 50+ shades of nude lipstick and only about 3 red ones? Like i like my red/maroon lipsticks. And there's NO glitter stuff??? I was so lucky to find a decent rainbow palette smh. It's actually pigmented and it's still the store's own range??? So it was a good price too
But yeah. No makeup makeup sucks. Want to look natural? Don't wear makeup. It's all or nothing in this house
no literally! like i dance and i literally have to cake it on my face to have any hope of getting it to show up. the worst part is having to find a red lipstick thats actually red not just dark pink, though i dont wear red lipstick usually so ive just kept the same one the past few years. i do my makeup fairly often (whenever i leave the house) but its so hard to find half decent products for the looks i want to do. like im gyaru so most makeup nowadays doesnt really work for me. i use a lot of lighter coloured lip products and theyre near impossible to find, especially ones that actually suit my skin tone, i usually end up going without or just wearing a clear gloss. i also use cooler tone pink blushes, or atleast try to, they dont seem to exist anymore - only warm tone pink or orange. and like you said glitters nowadays just arent glittery, only light shimmers, this works for most people but i actually like to wear my makeup, like visibly, so if i want a half decent shine i have to basically touch pan for one eye, its honestly so ridiculous. theres also a couple other really annoying things like having to order my lashes online because they dont carry the shape i like in stores and they dont have bottom lashes at all, not being able to find foundation that matches my skin and concealer being very low coverage so as to not be cakey - i basically have to apply half the tube just to get my nose stripe to show up. i was lucky enough to come across a rainbow eyeshadow palette recently, the colours are quite nice - mostly blues, greens and purples that you dont usually get to see now - and theyre fairly pigmented. i genuinely dont know what i wouldve done if i didnt find that palette.

Oh my god the false lashes... I don't even wear them but, welcome to the UK, chavs exist, andd I go to school and see girl woth falsies that make mascara caked on, curled into tubes and the same length all the way around. Then what's on the bottom lashes? Nothing. Like c'mon now be for REAL
by xX N0SWA1TH Xx; ; Report
i literally have to spend an arm and a legs worth for shipping to have my lashes sent from japan/china cause those are the only 2 places that seem to do the ones i like. i also hate this whole big lashes and eyeshadow on top nothing on the bottom look, i think looks very top heavy. like a bit of eyeshadow or mascara on the bottom lash line wouldve done the trick.
