Fearmongering in US politics these days

I am extremely worried about the future of US Politics. It feels like nobody can distinguish a fact from a narrative from an opinion anymore. So we hear constant parroting about both left and right being the death of the US as we know it, when in reality neither side is anything close to that.

I'm worried that this line-of-thinking (or lack thereof) will indeed cause things to heat up to the level these people are currently saying already exists. The calmer, more rational rhetoric will be swept under the shower of extreme takes we see everywhere and create a bigger shitstorm than we're already finding ourselves in today.

The Trump assassination attempt and the Jan 6 events are two examples of this exactly happening. People overblowing politics with black-or-white stances and fearmongering causing actual damage to our political environment.

I fear this Election Night no matter who wins...
