Small Delight.
Solemn droplets of water fall from the darkened sky, the sun is hidden by the clouds, and night begins to fall. A faint feeling of mellohi befalls the community that surrounds the area.Β His crimson eyes glisten in the sparkles of the lamp post, the tall structure hangs much above him, and the jet black hair drops low off his head, with a masterful gaze he peers in. Where does he peer into? A 24-hour open gas station, sneaking a peak into the indoors, the warmth that might follow upon entry, and the many small food choices and drinks to quench his dry throat, he walks inside. Hoping to find solace in the small pleasures, although on second thought, and a quick rummage through his pocket, he can only find 400 yen he found on the street.
Deciding to use this effectively instead of on a small treat, he walks inside the building, a small bell jingles almost as if it was happy he walked into the establishment. He takes note of that as a small smirk barely creeps onto his face as he looks through the options of food, the cheaper ones, and looking at less expensive ones like donuts or a sandwich. He nods in acceptance as he decides to buy himself a simple coffee jelly for about 300 yen and give the other 100 yen to his mother. He wraps his non-dominant hand around the coffee jelly to bring it to his other more dexterous hand to get a better grip on the cheapest piece of food he can buy without spending it all, he then brings it up to the cashier, an older man in his 30's, with brown eyes and short black hair. He delicately places it on the table and adjusts his sunglasses to the top of his head instead of on his eyes to respectfully meet the other man's gaze, he then taps on the counter in front of him as he gets his item scanned.
He puts the 300 yen on the table, trying to appear respectful as most of his peers would look down on him and shake his head, instead, he was met with a smile.Β
"Seems like you had a rough day. Want to talk about it?"
His voice rang through Urumas head hundreds of times before he could grasp the concept of what he just heard, was he asking about his day? "The son of Tanaka Mekurokaiba and he is wondering how my day is?" The thought ran through his head, gaining hundreds of miles as it suffocated his brain in the seconds to come before coming up with a response.
"Yeah, it really was."
He replies, now that he thinks of it, he still had beet red knuckles from an altercation at school. Why on earth would he care to ask about someone like me? He replays the situation in his head so many times that he feels like he will implode, he just wonders why someone would be nice to him on a whim, without fear or a threat?
"I see."
The man stated, then efficiently wiped his mouth, leaned down to the counter, and retrieved a bottle of strawberry-flavored drink.
"You get this often, right? Here, take it."
Another shock ran through Urumas body and soul before he delicately grasped the drink in his hand, a strawberry-based drink he would drink depending on what kind of money came in the following week, he enjoyed it since childhood. His mother would have friends who would bring some over and it would always comfort him as he connected it to the feelings of his mother, and he was a soft and caring friend before they all moved to Kobetsu.
"Thank you, sir."
He walks from the gas station in shock as he flips open his phone to check the time, as he reads the pixels illuminating his screen, he sighs. He begins walking home, he puts his sunglasses in his bag with the coffee jelly, cracks open the drink, and smiles.
