call of duty: ghosts - an unappreciated masterpiece. personal rant!

TLDR: this is one of the best games ive ever played and ill live with the curse that there will never be a sequel despite the cliffhanger ending because some fucking nerds hate fun.

jokes aside. holy shit. what a game. it was genuinely so fucking good, i am so upset that we wont get a continuation. similarly to what i like in the og modern warfare franchise, we are always doing something. there is never a moment we are allowed to let out guard down, not even for a second. even when things are going slow, its a build up to a bigger moment, like when we were in disguises!!

i think the only actual criticism id give to the game is that, towards the end, they just started throwing anything at us? it was kind of a "ramirez, do everything!" moment. us, the player, had to do multiple things in a very short period of time, constantly changing game modes(being in a helicopter, tank, fighting on land, shooting at boats, etc).

it isnt necessarily a bad thing tho! maybe i just felt overwhelmed because i had been playing for hours on end with no breaks. those mechanics were fun either way so it isnt a complaint, just maybe smth id preferred if had been toned down by a liiiiiiittle bit.

oh yeah, they also spoke spanish in brazil lmaaaaaaaooooooo. it isnt that deep so idc, but i thought it was funny. sure, it could be due to the federation unifying as one big nation in south america, so either spanish was normalized or there were just spanish speaking ppl in brazil. its still kinda funny tho, you guys did it right on cod6 then messed it up on cod10 hahahha. it wasnt rlly an issue tho, just thought it was kinda funny. i was expecting someone to shout "gringo filho da puta" then just listened to hispanos in rio de janeiro(btw, kinda nice that they decided to go to the NORTH of rio. idk, ppl usually just show the south and i thought it was a neat detail. not that it matters since the federation unionized all of south america but still neat)

the story happens in a post-apocalyptic setting, right after the federation hijacks ODIN, which is an american superweapon orbiting space. after this, a lot of the world collapses and the federation starts expanding. at this point in the story, which is around 10/20 years later if i remember correctly, the federation expands and conquers central and south america. they are trying to expand towards the north and our missions as logan, alongside our brother and our dog, hesh and riley respectively, is to fight them off.

the only crime this game committed, other than a few war crimes, is that we cant pet the dog. trust me, i tried reeeeeeeeeeally hard....
like, come on. you cant add a dog to your game and not expect me to want to pet him!!! this is criminal. i must admit tho, the only spoiler i went after was if riley died because if he did i wouldve just gone wild. luckly, my boy is safe and was honorably discharged after protecting us when we needed the most.

either way, there is a group called the "ghosts", men who fought ferociously, taking down a whole army by themselves. btw, history time!!!! the second i saw that, i was reminded of the attack of the dead man, which was a battle between russia and germany during WW1. the germans used poisonous gas as their weapons to take down the russians, whoever, instead of just dying and agonizing from all the pain from their flesh DISSOLVING, they got up, all bloodied and close to death, and kept fighting. they put some cloth on their faces to stop themselves from breathing in more gas, but it didnt help much.

kind of a fun fact, aye? it doesnt have much to do with the story, the battles arent even all that similar, but its interesting nonetheless. the more you know!

afterwards, when our father sends us to a mission in "no man's land", a very dangerous and ruthless place, we finally meet the ghosts. specifically two members, keegan and merrick. which proves their existence to be real!

i do, however, agree that the brothers reaction was kinda lackluster. i mean, come on, you are told about this sick ass group you dont even know if its real because of how INSANE they are, and you just treat it as if its a normal day? come on..... it doesnt matter all that much at the end of the day, but its still kinda crazy to think about it. i thought they would maybe fanboy a little bit, or act shocked, but its ok. it doesnt rlly matter all that much.

on a different note, i MUST praise how good the loading screen cutscenes are. like, holy shit!!!! the artistic choice in this game was insane!!! either those guys were payed with gold or their families were being threatened because this is insane!

this game's artistic direction was truly something else! i unfortunately went through a lot of crashes, specially at the beginning, and i wasnt even angry. sure, sometimes they were annoying, but rewatching these loading screens while the story is being told was genuinely entertaining.

alongside sick art direction, it has some of the most insane mechanics. oh? you wanna play as the dog in a stealth mission? sure, you can also tell him to attack enemies while you play as logan!!! we play in space, underwater, in a tank, in an helicopter, in a car, on a train, ON A FUCKING BUILDING! THATS RIGHT. NOT INSIDE OF IT. YOU ARE BEING HELD BY A ZIPLINE WHILE YOU WALK >>ON<< THE BUILDING AND SHOOT ENEMIES.

sure, maybe you arent a fan of the story, but you cant say this game is boring. you are constantly having to adapt you strategies, it doesnt let you get too used to a style. you are forced to try new things. its honestly so fun and it puts you on the edge of your sit because you dont know when you gotta change the way you play the game!

there was a moment i was forced to use claymore, which i am terrible at. although i kept dying to the enemies, i had so much fun placing the landmines, claymores, and even the sentry before they came into the room. its a neat challenge and i am glad this game pushes you to try new things! i was playing on normal mode, yet i still felt like i was having a fun challenge.

some examples are the underwater and trains missions. when you are underwater, the gravity and pressure are different so, in order to kill your enemies, you gotta shoot them at least thrice before they are down. we are warned beforehand, but its still nice how we have to learn different ways to play the game!

meanwhile, when playing on a MOVING TRAIN, it was harder to aim so you had to adapt to your new reality. there were helicopters with snipers coming at you while enemies also on the train shot you, i had to change my whole strategy because of that and it was honestly such a good challenge!

i have a hard time seeing moving objects, ive mentioned it before but idek why thats so. despite having such a hard time in this mission, i was still excited to time my shots and change my methods. i know i could just shoot non-stop, but i like to aim and make plans so this was really cool.

but i digress....... back to the story! after we succeed on our mission to no man's land, we discover that it was a test all along. our father, who we now know is a member of the ghost team, wanted to see if we were good enough to join them. yeah, we are kinda nepo babies lmaoooo.

in this same moment, we learn about our enemy, rorke, a man who didnt always leave a sour taste in these people's mouth.

the battle of caracas, 12 years ago. this is a flashback mission where we play as the OG ghost team, back when rorke was still one o them. in this mission, our objective was to stop and kill almagro. however, we go through some unforseen events after a missile hits the dam and the whole town starts flooding. our team gets separated, we(elias) are left alone with rorke before merrick asks for back up and we go after him to lend some hand.

once we are faced with almagro in his own helicopter, we finally succeed our mission. we kill almagro. however, during the hijack, everyone on-board tried to put up a fight.... which means the helicopter is going down and we crash... then THIS happens.

yeah. NOT ONLY THEY LEAVE HIM TO DIE DESPITE LEADING THIS WHOLE MISSION TO SAVE MERRICK >AND< KILL ALMAGRO, BUT MERRICK IS THE ONE WHO TELLS YOU TO LET GO OF HIM! MERRICK!!!!!!

his face as he realized his situation... when he hears merrick say "we cant save him! you have to let him go!".... the way he just repeats your name..... OOOOOOOHHH MY GOD!!!!!! I FEEL SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE BETRAYAL‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽‽ MY GOD. YEAH, NO SHIT HE WANTS YOU GUYS GONE!!!! I WOULD TOO!!!!

SO WHAT IF HE IS THE DEVIL??? AT LEAST THE DEVIL DIDNT LEAVE YOU WHEN YOU NEEDED HIM THE MOST!!! AT LEAST THE DEVIL WOULD RATHER DIE BY YOUR SIDE THAN LEAVE YOU BEHIND!!!!! my god.

yeah, as you can see, i am a big rorke defender. dont care!!!!! he is such an interesting character, i love him. so endearing. another thing this game did wrong was not giving us a way to slap his bald head. "press E to slap his head" wouldve been a certifiend gamer moment written in history.

with that said, we move on to a mission where we must capture rorke, whose goal is to kill all ghosts and help the federation. after he was captured, we were told he was mentally and physically tortured in order to work for them, which only makes this whole betrayal sadder.

once we get there, we are able to capture rorke, which was surprisingly easy. too easy. after trying to make him talk and threatening to kill him, our plane is ambushed and we find out it was all his plan to stall you and your men. maybe even get you to die in the process. afterwards, we find ourselves in a forest... stranded from our men and surrounded by enemies.

this screenshot isnt the best to define this moment, it is actually from after we all get together. previously, we had nothing but a knife and a little gun. it was actually kinda fun to play with a knife for a while before stealing a gun off of a corpse. changing between your gun and your knife to see your enemies was really nice, specially because i dont usually use short-range weapons! just like ive mentioned before, this game does a great job at forcing you to try new things.

once we are all safe, our mission changes and rorke isnt our main priority anymore. instead, we are on operation clockwork. which is one of my favorite missions! its the one i mentioned where we are in disguise. the funny thing is that the ghosts pretend to be spanish speaking people, which is kinda hilarious considering merrick has one of the thickest american accents while speaking in spanish. this isnt an issue in game, but its a funny detail i noticed. the game obviously dismisses it, but it wouldve been hilarious if we got caught because of that.

i really like this mission because the beginning is a build up, tensions are high and you have got to keep calm in order not to get caught. you cant act suspicious, you gotta blend in. its honestly one of my favorite missions alongside the ending, the one you are walking on a building with a zipline, and the underwater mission.

once we sneak in and finish downloading all the data, we have to leave without getting caught. obviously, it doesnt work and we have an amazing chase scene on ice where you gotta shot where your enemy WILL be in order to kept them away from your car before back up comes. at the end, the ice beneath you starts breaking and its a FUCKING SUBMARINE!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 WE ARE GETTING IN IT, BABYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!! im a sucker for anything underwater related, youll soon hear more about it.

once we are in the submarine, we talk about the data we got. apparently, the federation missiles are being developed in rio de janeiro, brazil-
- but thats not where we are going to right now..... we are going more south.....

instead of going straight to brazil, we are talking down their atlas plataform, which gives them fuel.

in this mission we start underwater(YAHOOO!!!!) before moving up. we want to get a clear view of the enemy and detonate everything beneath their feet. once inside atlas, we have to fight off a few enemies before getting into the controlling room and shutting everything down, leading to its demise. while it is sinking, with fire and chaos consuming the building, we still have to fight off the soldiers who are trading their lives in order to stop us.

thereafter, we have to make a run for it and jump in the helicopter before we die alongside them! its such a cool moment with high stakes, this is another mission i really like.

upon its completion, we lure the enemies away like we wanted to. and now?? ITS UNDERWATER MISSION TIME, BABYYY!!!!!!

and this is a proper underwater mission!!! usually, in games, underwater missions are very short and you soon get off the water to kill enemies. which, sure, its fun. ill take it. but this one is a LONG underwater mission!!! our goal is to take down an enemy boat at its weak point while enemies are gathering parts from the now-destroyed atlas facility.

in this mission, you are forced to change your attack method since your bullets are slower. i really liked mixing in some knife and bullet attacks from time to time, along side counting my bullets since it usually took 3 to take down a man. there were also SHARKS!!!

for those who are unaware, hi, i am the biggest shark fan youll ever meet. i fucking love sharks, and it was a delight to know that we didnt have to kill them! all we had to do was stay calm and not get into their personal space!!! which is awesome!!!!! the lines on the back of its model makes me think they are tiger sharks, which makes sense considering we are in the atlantic. i wouldnt be surprised if it was jusst a white shark tho.

once we reach the aegis combat ship, we have to move fast because the sonic charges could be lethal. we were warned to retreat, but keegan refuses and we keep swimming. when we find proper cover, logan takes out the proteus missile and points at the ship. we have one shot, if we miss it the whole mission is over and it will all be for nothing. in collaboration, keegan tells us he is gonna fire while we aim. then we are met with a cool thermal vision, showing us the weakest point of the boat.

its such a quick but great moment. once we hit it, there is a huge explosion and we gotta hold onto rocks to keep safe. however, the pressure is too strong and we fall unconscious for a very short period of time, stuck in debris, almost dying before keegan saves us. thereafter, we have to make a run for it, among wreckage falling from above us before getting out of water and inside the helicopter, fighting off some enemies in the process.

this really is my favorite mission, it has everything i like. maybe i am biased since i LOVE underwater stuff, but i dont care. it was fun!!! we had to be precise and try new things in this different environment.

nevertheless, its FINALLY BRAZIL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE ARE GOING TO RIO DE JANEIRO!!!!!!!!1 🏆🏆 BRASIL CAMPEÃO DO MUNDO!! 🇧🇷 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! our mission now is to find out what the federation is hiding inside that factory considering how secretive they were about it. whatever is there, they didnt was us to know.

id also like to massage my own ego and share how well i did in this mission. i was able to get a few double kills and, honestly, its the best feeling ever. i love it when i get double kills with one shot. i didnt die here, got two close calls and one crash, but not a single death!!! its the power of brazil. just like people have the indomitable human spirit, ive got a card under my sleeve. the indomitable BRAZILIAN spirit. the second someone puts me in a brazilian map, i will do well. no questions asked!

now that i got it out of the way, we can go back to the story. when we get inside rocket zone, we realize there are a lot of rocket components. until we are met with this.

a satellite, space-based weaponry. but not just ANY satelline. this design was based on ODIN's, the american super weapon that was orbiting space, the one that started it all. the federation did some kind of reverse-engineer to build this, now our objective is to find out how many of these theyve built so far. after further inspection, and some action, we find out that there are 24 of them.

once we finally get ambushed by the federation, we have this fun mechanic where we  smoke them and use thermal vision to our advantage. it is a really cool mechanic and they dont overuse it! we arent forced to stay for a long-ass time wearing them, which makes the moments we do get to use that mechanic awesome. once the visors are off, we run to the rooftop to fight off more guys and get the hell of out there with all the data we stole!

we get yet another car chase scene, which was very well placed. we are on the back of a truck, shooting enemies while everything explodes behind them. we have officially destroyed the 24th satellite, but there isnt time to celebrate knowing that there are other 23 of them somewhere.

our next steps are going back home to plan everything up. still, we arent safe. once back in our base, we are are surprised by the federation. we were all caught, rorke got us.

logan, hesh, and elias were all captured. the family was together yet again. rorke used this for his advantage, threatening to hurt elias' children if he didnt get the information he wanted. once elias refuses to give him intel, we are immediately shot as elias begs to let his children out of this.

elias gets angry and tells rorke he was never a ghost, he gets his answer by being beat up while rorke growls that its because he is just better than him. he tells elias that his legacy dies here, that he is weak. in this moment, logan, the player, is consumed by blinding rage and is able to break free from the rope after putting up some fight. once free, we jump for rorke's gun in an attempt to end his life once and for all. however, he is physically stronger than us and is capable of holding our arm down by force despite of our efforts.

in the process, all while we put up a damn fight, rorke is guiding the gun we are holding to elias.

in this process, he manages to shoot elias twice before taking the gun off logan and hitting him on the head with it. we fall onto the floor, tired and hurt from the strike. hesh is shouting for us, fueled by rage. at this moment, he wants rorke dead for what he did, for what he made us do.

he keeps shooting elias, then proceeds to throw him on the floor. as hesh cusses rorke out, we lie by our dying father who reassures us that everything is ok... that he is proud of you.

but this touching moment between father and son is cut short by rorke once again.

he kept his promise, his children are gonna watch him die. after that, elias gets killed with a shot in the head while we are agonizing by his side.

this is actually such a cool moment and i dont think i did it justice by just writing things down. this is how the whole scene goes, you should give it a watch! its a bit longer, but its so worth it. left this after the explanation because of the title haha.

i already knew elias was gonna die, it was obvious from the start. i think the writers took advantage of it by making a GOOD scene. elias doesnt just die, its a long moment where we know it is gonna happen, tensions are high and lives are at stake. once it happens, it is shocking because of how much hatred rorke is feeling at that moment. every word he mutters is filled with intention. he isnt making threats, he is giving us a warning.

besides, imagine being the character in this situation. sure, maybe logan being a silent character mightve not worked out, but have you stopped to think that maybe its because the reaction is yours to have? you are logan, those relationships are yours as much as they are his. you are meeting most of those characters for the first time with him. sure, maybe its because im a weird theater kid who's never done theater and likes to get a bit too much in character, but thats how i feel like it goes. he is mirroring you.

well, thats how i see it at least. i think its fair that some people might find his lack of reaction dull since its a story about grief, siblings, and new relationships. but i also like to imagine that he DOES have reactions, but we cant see it. when characters talk to him, he answers. we are the only ones who cant hear/see it because the game doesnt want to force any feelings onto us, yknow?

idk, i see a lot of judgement about logan being a silent character and how it doesnt work in this story specifically, which is fair. i can see why people wouldnt like it, but i personally enjoy this choice and i wanted to share the reason why i think it was a good idea.

but i digress...... after elias' death, merrick, logan, and hesh are set to die. however, rorke orderes for the youngest(logan) not to be killed. a neat detail was the guard's name being green during this, kinda foreshadowing the end(which isnt the first time it happens! ill go over this later on). once the gun was pointed at hesh's head, a bullet suddenly hits one of the guards and we learn that it was keegan. the second this happens, merrick and hesh start fighting everyone off while keegan snipes the guards from the roof.

as soon as we leave, we can see that merrick is very hurt and it slows down our mission. we gotta keep him safe, he is one of us. once we are reunited with keegan, he helps us with our stealth mission, giving up even more backup since merrick is wounded and cant be as quick as we can.

id like to mention that there is this rlly funny moment where rorke is announcing that we are on the loose, making everyone in the building aware that we must be caught. after he finishes talking, merrick says, and i quote, "thanks for the shout out, asshole.". i dont know why this was so funny to me, i like when characters act "sassy" despite being in danger. idk, maybe its because i was rlly focused but it got a giggle out of me.

once we are out, we need to stall a bit until our ride is here. this is the moment i was happy about going after a single spoiler because, upon arrival, an enemy shows up and riley protects you..... but he gets hurt...... YOU DONT GET ITTTT!!! THE WAY THE BABY WHIMPERS................ he is scared... we are in the middle of a war and he is in pain..... he is scared....

^^this was me the second riley whimpered while in my arms..... the moments i had to carry him around and find safe places to hide him while i fight............ if i hadnt known hed be safe, this wouldve destroyed me. i wouldnt have cried because i dont rlly cry while gaming, but i wouldve been sooooo miserable. i still was, but i knew hed be ok so it was a bit better.

after the helicopter shows up, we get in and everything is swell and we start preparing for our next plan, which is all-or-nothing. we are gonna attack the federation from everywhere, give out our everything. but, before that, we see riley SAFE and HAPPY while wagging his tail! he has been honorably discharged after his immaculate acts of bravery.
not just a good boy, but the best of them all!

merrick chooses not to go, he will take up elias' place and take care of our resources. and, three days later, its finally showtime. all or nothing, july 5th.

this is one hell of a mission!!! at first, we gotta clear the flight deck but we keep changing between air and land. not only we play as logan, but we also play as an operator striking enemies down from the sky as we defend our carrier! its such a fun moment, ngl. this isnt the only cod game where this happens, obviously, but its appreciated nonetheless. we even get to have a slow-motion moment as we slide down the wreckage to shoot enemies!

after we take down the gunship and a few choppers, the place is safe enough for us to leave and join the main assault. then the game cuts a new POV, one of our men fighting in a tank and destroying destroying airship defenses, while hesh and logan wait for their aircraft to reach that location.

this is a really cool moment but a LOT is happening so its easy to get overwhelmed. its really fun, but i got a bit tired from it and how over the top it was. you had to destroy those missiles while helicopters were up your ass and a lot of new mechanics, and even some old ones, were being thrown at our face. maybe i wouldve appreciated it more if i had taken breaks(i played at least 75% of the game in one go, without leaving for anything). who knows? maybe they wanted us to be hyped but it kinda sucked the soul out of me and i had to rest afterwards haha.

thereafter we cut back to logan and hesh, we are controlling the minigun and shooting down everyone in the launch facility before jumping in to secure the control room. once we clear the place, we rush for the control room.

id like to mention that this is a very creative moment because, before breaching, we have to improvise so hesh gets a fire extinguisher, opens the door, throws it at the enemies, and shoots it for a small smoke cloud to appear and give us some time! idk, i just thought it was creative.

afterwards, we update the trajectory of the federation's missiles and they are ready for launch. once the its done, we hear from one of the guard's radio that rorke is in a train and we go after him. when we tell that to merrick, he insists we follow the original plan where they go after him together but hesh and logan have already made up their mind. they want to take rorke down by themselves after what he has done to elias.

as soon as we clear the room and jump in the train, our POV goes through two changes: at first we go back to the person controlling the tank, then we go to SPACE!!!! the tank mission was ok, we had to defend the area and take down the enemy's turrets. i feel like this mission was too energetic for me and, now that i think abt it, i didnt like how the tank moved all that much either but maybe its a personal issue i had with the gameplay.

either way!!!! there is a countdown going on while you are at it, only a few minutes since the missile hesh and logan sent reach your location. after it reaches 0, we have to reteat while everything behind us explodes.

once defeated, we finally go to space! i didnt mention this, but at the beginning of the game, before the federation wrecks havoc upon us, we play a little introduction a few minutes before it happens. not only we play as the walkers, but also as two characters in a space station protecting/taking care of ODIN. now we are at it again, but this time we are invading!

the sound track playing as the mission is introduced is insane too, i cant even explain the emotions it brought to me. even the sound effect once LOKI, the new super weapon is shown. honestly, fucking sick.

i like this mission so much ngl, i had to pay a lot of attention on my surroundings because of how easy it was to get lost/miss enemies. i can see why some people wouldnt like it for that same reason but, as ive previously mentioned, i like how this game forced me to ttry new things and change my usual course of action.

we go through a few issues; some things explode, slowing us down. but when we finally reach the control module, we receive a message from the headquarters. merrick, who previously told us to watch our fire because there were friendlies in the train, has now sent us orders to shoot it down.

YOU DONT GET ITTTT!! YOU DONT GET HOW IT FELT TO EXPERIENCE THEIR NAME CHANGING TO RED. DUDE. DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE. i spent all that time thinking they mightve turned somehow, maybe someone betrayed them and made it so they looked like villains. my thoughts were racing with questions, and then we go back to them. 15 minutes before this launch.

THERE ARENT WORDS TO DESCRIBE WHAT I WAS FEELING AT THAT MOMENT. MY BROTHER IN CHRIST, THEY WANTED TO TAKE RORKE DOWN EVEN IF IT MEANT THEY'D DIE WITH HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE ALREADY KNEW THE TRAIN WAS ABOUT TO GET HIT, IT WAS A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL IT HAPPENS. NOW WE PLAY AS THEM BEFORE THOSE ORDERS ARE GIVEN!!!!!!! MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

i genuinely dont get how so many people dislike this game. how do you see their name change colors and think that shit is lame. we are about to die and you are rolling your eyes‽‽‽‽‽‽ hate the story all u want but come on..... you gotta admit when things are done right............

once we go back to playing as the walker brothers, we are already fighting, sending rorke a message that he is next.

i was so hyped here ngl. not only i was playing while aware that our train was gonna be a target, but it was also way harder. you had to jump through different wagons carefully not to fall, shoot enemies while the train is shaking and missiles are being sent close by. there were also federation helicopters at times with snipers in it, we were at such disadvantage!

but at last.... we reach the engine, which is where rorke is located. at this moment, we gather in front of the door and give merrick instructions to fire the train they are in as soon as he hear the word "checkmate" in case shit hits the fan.

after we breach and kill some guards in a cool slowmotion fight with suspense music, rorke immediately is able to catch logan, threatening to shoot us if hesh gets any closer.

i just love how ruthless rorke is; he doesnt give his enemies time to talk. he is a man of action. hesh's expression there too.... ooooh my god...... he is the one who always talks about sacrificing himself, yet, faced with a situation like this, he still fears for his life. rorke immediately shots him, not giving hesh time to talk, then proceeds to throw him on the floor. but, before anything major happens, hesh says the code for merrick to open fire.

right after, missiles start falling from the sky, breaking the rails and sending the train into the water. once submerged, before the windows give in to the pressure, we have a small fight scene where logan and rorke try to reach for the same gun while hesh attacks him from behind with a fire extinguisher.

the second hesh hits rorke, he fights back and your brother tells you to shoot him as fast as possible. however, the second you press the trigger, you realize there are no bullets left and there is this short moment of crisis before you hear hesh's voice and this slowmotion moment begins as he throws the last bullet in your direction.

you have rorke right in front you you, hesh is holding him. its over. but, once he is shot, the bullet also hits hesh, who is right behind him, and they fall as the windows give in and water starts flooding the train.

^here is the scene in all its glory btw! it was such a cool moment, i recommend giving it a watch. in fact, if you want, you can watch the whole ending on youtube. its genuinely so cool and i dont think ill do it justice by just writing it down. the voice actors, the sound department, they all went insane. this whole scene felt intense to play, there was so much happening in such a short period of time that it made me feel kinda anxious.

anyway, once the windows break and the water rapidly consumes the engine is consumed by water, we are able to carry hesh's barely conscious body to the surface. however, before this really stressful situation is over, we have to swim up while all we hear is out heartbeat and our vision starts to get blurry. once thats over, we crawl to the nearest rock where we can sit down and finally rest as explosions are happening in the horizon.

this scene parallels elias' death, but with a more satisfying twist. instead of facing a terrible death, this time, we relax on a shore as we see the fruits of our labor.

then the screen fades to black, followed by the credits as the game reaches its end.

THATS HOW THIS BLOG WOULDVE ENDED IF THERE WASNT A FUCK ASS POST-CREDITS.

<<<THIS WAS MY HONEST REACTION BTW.
ok, it wasnt bad, far from that. it was amazing. the issue here is that there wont be a cod:ghosts 2. we will be left with this cliffhanger forever. its over, guys.

once the screen fades back in, i realize that my fears were proven right. the voice in my head that told me "if they survived, there is a chance rorke did too" was right. i was proven to be right the second i heard those footsteps.

as it gets closer, logan finally looks to see whats going on and is met with a kick, followed by a punch as we reach for our weapon. the second we try to attack him back, rorke breaks our arm as if we are nothing.

before hesh can try to help us, he also gets strike. rorke thejn approaches us, telling logan how great of a fighter he is. too good to waste.

the cycle is gonna repeat. just like him, you are gonna be brainwashed until you decide to "willingly" work for the federation. as rorke drags you by the sand, bringing you with him to wherever he wishes, you turn to hesh, who is groaning your name, making effords to go after you despite his condition.

and the game ends as your brother desperately shouts your name. dude. AND THERE WONT BE A SECOND GAME!!!!

AND THE SOUNDTRACK HERE???? OOOOOOH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD. THIS GAME DRIVES ME INSANE! DUDE. DUUUUUDE. i feel lightheaded, this is so good. holy shit. i genuinely dont get the hate this game received. this is a good campaign!!! its fucking awesome!!! and now me and the two other people who liked it will never know what happens next because of the haters.

i feel sick, i still cant believe it. although ive heard there might be news in 2026, i believe its been rumored to be a reboot of the game as a whole, not a continuation. so, even if it happens to be real, the ending might be different from what we got and we will stay without answers. man.

the story is so fun and entertaining, maybe there could be some flaws i am not seeing but you cant say it isnt fun. we have so many maps, so many mechanics to explore, and new ways to play the game youve known for 9 titles. why do people think its bad? is it the multiplayer? is it the campaign? i genuinely dont get it. at the end of the day, you do you. but i just genuinely dont get it. the story might not be your style, sure, but it isnt bad????????????????????????????????????????????

i have no idea why it is overly hated. not only weve got really good graphics, but some beautiful art and color direction. i really like apocalyptic settings, so maybe i am biased, but it just looks so good. and, if you dont like the "too muted" colors, its ok! we go to different places all the time!!! we go to an extremely green forest, a deep blue ocean, a yellow battlezone, and much more! if you conly care about the gameplay, there are multiple mechanics to explore, forcing you to learn different play-styles!! idk if it was some kind of mob mentality or if there was a problem at launch, but i dont get it.

ive seen people commenting on stuff being reused and. yeah???? people reuse stuff all the time! it happens in animation and its ok lmao. sometimes they have an idea that is similar to smth theyve already done so, instead of building something from the ground up, they recycle some animations. do you really expect a franchise with one billion games to never reuse anything? ok, you do you ig.

but anyway, small rant over. dislike it if u want idc, be yourself. now i want to talk about something ive mentioned previously, which is the foreshadowing. throughout the game, almost every time rorke shows up in the same room as logan, he compliments his skills. some examples are after we attack him during elias' death, after surprise attack when we had him captured, at the end. those are some examples that come at the top of my head, but i think there might be one or two more.

he has always shown interest in logan's fighting skills, so we had a nice build-up to what was about to come. im sure people couldve figured it out from how much he said that, but i didnt so the second he said that we are coming with him, all the memories came flooding in and then it all suddenly connected. like, hoooly shit. my brother in christ, this was a nice detail. they gave you the chance to figure it out by yourself, but didnt push it too far to make it an "in your face" statement. they made him say that just the right amount to come back to you once you reach the end!

honestly, this game is sick. im so upset that there will never be a continuation to this fantastic story, ill forever grief what never came to be.

but yeah, this is the end. this blog is way longer than i thought itd be, specially because i got lazy at some point and thought about scrapping the idea. it was just gonna be a short-ish bulletin like my mw ones but then i was possessed by an evil spirit and, once i woke up, i had this long ass blog right in front of me. hope you like it, and i also hope to find more people who like cod games, specially ghosts and the og mw franchise. ive been searching for cod enjoyers all over the place but they r either inactive or dont exist. heeeelp. heeeeeeelp. help meeeee.

P.S: oh yeah, and if you like the game, tell me what you enjoy about it! i wanna hear bout abt cod:g. if you dont, i also kinda wanna hear about it tbh. i am so curious to why this is supposedly one of the worst cod games.

FINALLY SOME GHOSTS APPRECIATION!! It's the first cod I could actually play by myself and it's kinda sad that'll never be sequel :,,( The story itself it's pretty good but could have been a bit better if it had missing parts, like go discovering bits of stuff through the gameplay than it being mostly on the loading screens narration but that's just a personal preference ;P

fair. maybe its because the artistic direction baffled me, but i like the loading screens being the place where the story is told haha. imo, it kinda gives more artistic freedom instead of making the played game more cutscene-based(idk if it makes sense, but its kinda like how the new mw has a lot of cutscenes mid-game that are just the characters walking around, yknow? it isnt inherently bad tho, i think it can be fun)

but i do get what you mean, i wonder how things wouldve gone if we would learn more stuff through gameplay. it kinda makes me think of the rorke files tho! i didnt collect them all, but it was very fun to go back and read everything, almost as if logan was helping out with intel.

ive just recently properly got into cod, previously i was more into the charcater dynamics(still am! i love og mw price. we are just watching this old man have multiple breakdowns as his mates die in front of him!), but now ive been playing the games and its so fucking fun. it kinda makes me feel sad abt the mw reboot tho. i still enjoy it a bit, specially some of the more developed dynamics, but i like how ridiculous and over the top og mw was. idk, it just feels like they lost some of the one-man-army whimsy they used to have lmao.

but yeah, i fucking love cod:g's story. i like how its focused on relationships, the way we wouldve watched history repeat itself in the second game. imagine yourself in the second game, playing as hesh who is still searching for logan, just to find him in the worst version of himself. would he be forced to kill the character we played for hours in the previous game? would we die protecting him? would we be able to help him? would we be able to forgive him for all the atrocities he committed under rorke's care?

and, if we do forgive him, if we do rehabilitate, wouldnt rorke also be deserving of a second chance? i feel like this game has a lot more nuance in relationships, destroyed friendships, betrayal, and so on. not to be like a "i am 13 and this is deep", but i like analyzing stories. its kind of my favorite part lol. so i am absolutely obsessed with the idea of "how far can someone go for you to still sympathize with them?" because rorke killed their father, this is unforgiveable. but elias also left him to die, which led to him being tortured for god-knows how long.

what if logan does the same? what if he kills someone's father? would he still be forgiven or would death be the only way to stop him? would killing him be the only way to let him rest? man. ill never get over this game, it has everything i like from a story-telling point. i get it might not be everyones cup of tea, but, at the same time, i dont get how the story can be straight up seen as "bad".

oh wow, i guess reading this counted as spoiling myself since i didn't watch it yet, but i was curious to see what you have to say. i'm kind of shocked that there are apparently so many people who dislike it, from all you described it seems that there's so SO much to do in this one, i wasn't expecting underwater and space missions at all. beyond that the screenshots look beautiful design wise. from my little knowledge i think a crazier story encompassing all of these things, in an apocalyptic setting actually works pretty well for cod. a little baffling that people seemed to hate it.

it sounds like it's really fun... i'm also relieved the dog didn't die, i always get anxious when any media has a dog because i really hate it when they die. so i'm glad

other than that awesome job on summarizing the story and themes in the game, this is a really good analysis, it got me even more intrigued... kind of crazy how one single after credits scene fucked everything up though, you'd think if they had planned an entire story out as implied by that scene, they would have actually made a continuation by now

im glad it intrigued you! its genuinely such a good game, i had so much fun playing it. its ok if the story isnt someones cup of tea, but there is no way in hell those mechanics and missions are boring....... come on..... im not too big into cod, there are a few stories i like, but this isnt the first time they step out of the "realistic gameplay", which i honestly prefer in most cases.

i was also kinda shocked when i was in space and in a proper underwater mission! i remember spamming my friend once we were in space for the first time(it happens at the beginning of the game as a fun way to show the viewer what is going on). i grew up thinking all cod games were very serious and realistic, which was what pushed me away from the game. i also didnt even know there was a campaign! so the second i started learning about these ridiculous over-the-top moments, i found myself enjoying these stories.

and by the post-credits, its obvious that there was a continuation to be made(and a them good one for sure). but, for some reason, people just hated that game and the developers just ddidnt want to touch it again...... it wouldve honestly been such a cool sequel. i think wed play as hesh, logans brother, while fighting the character we played as for the whole first game. it wouldve been so hype, ill never be able to sleep well at night knowing there wont be a sequel....

fun fact: since there isnt a sequel, rorke is the only cod villain to have actually won in the cod franchise! 10+ games and, i say this in the most endearing way possible, this "humpty dumpty"-looking ass freak actually won. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ ugly
this WEIRDO iss making me insane..... from his story line to his personality....... i feel sick. i want to put him in a microwave. i need to do terrible things to rorke, he keeps spinning in my head like a lowpoli gif

Finally I found someone who doesn't think ghosts is complete garbage, such an underrated gem and one of the bets in the franchise in my opinion ^_^

for real!!! i genuinely think it is such a fun campaign, i genuinely dont get why people dont like it.

by minesweepooper; ; Report

Yeah the campaign was also one of th best in the series, also half the things people didn't like are worse in the modern games so it genuinely doesn't make sense to me

for real!!! and ppl still say it is bad to this day!!!
