yesterday, my siblings had to attend an outing arranged for the kids, but i also got to tag along cuz my mom can't trust me at home alone sometimes (which is odd, since i used to housesit when i turned 16), so that made me (possibly) the only young adult amidst the adults, children and teens.
i won't lie, it was fun, since we got to feed the ducks (i felt like Sarah from "Sarah & Duck"), spotted a large goldfish-looking-ahh fish in the duck pond which we named "Goldzilla" and a swimming rat (which, yes, we named Remy for obvious reasons), pet the baby calves, debated with the goose and ducks of another pond about their down feather pillow prices (that part's an inside joke, i just got to watch them), and watched the milking process.
it didn't help that the smell of manure made me feel nauseous. twice. thank God i didn't upchuck my lunch.
otherwise, i really enjoyed it!
... and the food, like, genuinely, the place made a decent pepper steak pie. i need that recipe /gen
it's not often i get to visit a farm, even though the older generations on all sides of my family OWNED farms in some form or another (save for my step-dad's side, his dad had more of a self-sufficiency thing going on growing up), but that was before my grandparents all flocked to the city, i think, so i never really got to experience farm life for myself.
our mom, however, has, and she had quite the tale of when she used to visit our great-grandma (on our mom's mom's side)'s farm, like how her cousins would often fish in the nearby river for crabs, how everyone would air-dry salted fish (ngl, that lowkey sounds yummy?), and even how our grandma always brought groceries from home cuz she (our mumsie dearest) wasn't all too used to farm food (that's the best translation i could give for "plaaskos", wwwww). she also admitted to not liking unpasteurized milk, which makes sense, since the cream hasn't been separated from the milk, so that makes the milk extremely rich, so if i had to try it, i probably would've thrown up (i can't handle rich foods all too well).
would i live on a farm? no. absolutely not, i don't think i'm built for that lifestyle.
would i visit again? yes. absolutely.
okay, gonna wrap this off here.
mwah, love ya (/plat), bye <3
