Awkward memory...

Remembering that time in Germany when I was 17 and my older sister had brought over a friend from vietnam who was going to stay the night. She was just about my height, and we communicated mainly in English because she hadn't spoken very good German yet. She was just the CUTEST girl ever, we ended up walking together through the town and back at home, spent the whole day just chatting; learning about each other's language and history, recollecting stories from our childhood, and sharing our interests and the whole time i was just growing the HUGEST crush on her. Later that night, while i was playing a board game with the neighbours, she placed her head on my lap and fell asleep and tbh i still haven't forgotten the feeling of it - slightly embarrassing to admit but it was probably the most intimate experience I've had in my life. I remember how giddy i was that night before i fell asleep just thinking about how absolutely insane it was that i had actually had a girl fall asleep in my lap, however casual it was.

The next day, I was DETERMINED to try and shoot my shot however i could - even if she was just there for a day, it was my goal to see if i could manage to ask her out on even a friendly date so i could see her again, and possibly see if she was even interested in other women at that. At breakfast, early in the morning, it's just me and her. I sit down, bringing us both freshly sliced bread for the morning, and ask "I just realised i never asked, come to think of it.... if you don't mind my asking, how old are you?" Ladies and gentlemen,  she was 32.

I didn't either...... I remember just going slack-jawed for a split second before picking myself up like "32? I wasn't expecting that, you seem so young for your age!! Haha:))))" while mentally being like "excuse me, THIRTY TWO???????? IN WHAT WORLD ARE YOU THIRTY TWO THIS IS SO UNFAIR THIS *SUCKS*" i really couldn't articulate how 17 year old me felt in that moment but it was somewhere between heartbreak, complete and utter shock, and just barely some level of sick amusement at how utterly twisted the scenario of "think you finally have found your first love through a series of teen novel-esque scenarios but there's a catch: she ends up being almost twice your age" was even at the time.
