To put in simple terms, some games are easier to connect to wifi than others.
What we'll be doing is tricking the Nintendo DS into thinking that we're connecting to a wifi server.
You might need a Phone with a hotspot to do this depending on the game, but otherwise you just need Wifi.
Step one go to System settings in your Ds. Step two search for an access point.
Step three type in your info for your wifi. Step four Click on whatever connection you plan on using.
Step five go to change settings, Step Six you should see DNS settings click on that.
Step seven it will ask you if you want to auto obtain the dns settings selected no.
Step eight go to detailed set up, you should see a Primary DNS and Secondary DNS settings menu.
Step nine click on the primary DNS settings and enter 167.086.108.126 as the primary DNS.
Step ten be sure to save your settings or else it won't work.
Step eleven boot up the game you want to play and try joining multiplayer mode, it should work.
For some games that are a lot older you might have to use a Hotspot to do all of this.
I had to use a Hotspot in order to connect to the internet using my copy Heartgold.
Just follow the steps as listed above and be sure to enter that primary DNS Server number as listed.
Bonus, I included a video from a guy earlier this year doing exactly this.
He goes over the steps more in depth than I do So shout outs to Pinch Soft.
I hope this helps, if not maybe I can help trouble shoot the problem while I'm online.
