✨Hey! ✨
Since beginning of the month, marked the end of first half of the year, its a nice moment to do a short wrap ups!
Given that i havent played any fresh game this year (yet) (at least i think so), nor i read any of the new books. I plan only to make two! First is this one, hello, for music and the other will be for tv shows and movies (including anime yey!). So lets begin with short list of the best songs from each month:
January's best song was collab between NGHTMRE, Jon Casey and Pauline Herr called "In Your Eyes". It is your standard fast paced machinegun driven Riddim, with solid vocals and many great "gimmicks" in form of switches, unique layers and such which make the song extremely fun to listen to.The biggest con is fact it is sub 3 minutes, which also makes it one of the shorter song son this list. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehe9JOhV2zc
February for me, has been crushed by one song. No other song was even tiny bit close to compete with it. im talking about "Cure" by ERRA. This bass guitar is next level, especially in chorus. When i heard the tune for the first time i was flabbergasted, that this pattern is even possible. Mixing is great too, which makes me happy as Metal songs have problem with it (This one is Metalcore btw) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mg-wOTx94uE
March, however was a month that opened me to a new genre. A genre which for the most part seemed, little to no effort and predictable. Im talking about Techno. Melodic Techno, to be clear. And that game changer was "Higher Power" by Anyma from his, also majestic, Genesys II Album. This song is a prime example on how you should make Melodic Techno. Its extremely melodic (duh), it suprises you with new sounds here and there, its epic in a way it could be a bossfight OST in a scifi Devil May Cry like game. Just WOW. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHnVcEubpUA
April gave me some queery, colorful vibes with Moore Kismet's "How 2 Build A Better Boy". How they made this tune is beyond my comprehension. First part is a beautiful Jersey Club, a genre i missed for years, since 4B moved to other projects and the song doesnt stop there. 2nd minute marks the bpm and genre switch, and song becomes a pretty fun colorful Hybrid Trap. Defo, worth giving a shot! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGL4qbSAU9Y
May was a needed comeback to 2010's with Flux Pavilion's and Wooli's "On Repeat", whicb is good old Flux's Melodic Brostep, straight from early Skrillex days. Song building wise, its also stunning, and made me cry due to nostalgia factor. The song its worth checking out, even if you missed these years in music! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RveBtR6yHQ
June was a big blend of all previous months with Control Freak's "Eyes On Me". This stompy, blend of hard techno and hybrid trap, was something i didnt knew i needed! Its powerful, hard af and veery fun. (Epilepsy Warning) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1LU4kz5lh0
Now its time for the top lists. If the year ended right now, the Best Album for me, would be Genesys II by Anyma, for the same reasons as the song mentioned in match part. However, I already know in this part of the year, that may no longer be the case as there are three candidates to overthrow the current champion:
ZEDD's return to the roots with TELOS
Porter Robinson's successful so far, dive into Hyperpop genre with Smile :D
and unnamed so far Marshmello's Trap LP which was tease with songs like "Dont Speak" or 'Forever", which were filled with old San Holo vibes.
Best EP so far, is controversial Marshmello's collab EP with Tearout artist SVDDEN DEATH, called "Mellodeath Tapes vol. 1", which gave the best material from both of them in ages. Crown the Empire collab called "Fireball" is also best Rocktronic (Rock/Metal + Electronic) song in the entire year too! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nMACx2Bgauqp6qTppHRfgY5oqkrdova5k
You may think, that i like only harsh, loud music. You cant be more wrong, as Best Single (track that hasnt been released alongside any ep or lp), for me is a chilly, vibey garage track from Fred Again, Lil Yachty and Overmono, called"Stayinit" . Same thing with, Best Remix, which is a chilly wubby Deep Duby, Lyny's remix of Bumpin' by Peekaboo. (link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mgm8G1LZGNs)
These picks are also best ones in EDM category (the only one full so far)
Other categories which also i want to mention are:
Rock/Metal:
and Rap/RnB:
Best Single: Szpaku - Plaster (polish oldschool rap yay!)
Remember, these choices are mine, and mine only. Its good to disagree with them! 🙃
I hope you like my picks! See you soon, ✨ Bye Bye ✨
