Clouds and Primary Colors and Clowns

I made a new pfp for my art account on instagram. I just drew a cute version of myself and put clown make up on them. I don't want to change my pfp here because I like using Natsume Reiko. But I plan on doing more NatsuYuu fanart soon so maybe when I do I'll change it to that and also then I can show my past fanarts of Reiko as well.

I have a blue light filter on all my tech so if you don't, you're probably seeing this way bluer than me. My art without the blue light filter can't hurt me if I don't see it. UwU

If you are still reading then you get the OC lore. Here is my portrait of my OC Mera:

Mera is my OC who lives in the kingdom Mirinth. She is hashtag not like the other girls because she likes to fight and learn combat skills. She defies her mother and gets a job in the castle with her father's connections to train the crown prince, who is refusing to learn sword fighting because he believes it is a useless skill for a prince during peacetime. But peacetime is fragile and precarious and does not last.

I like drawing calla lillies, so I looked into their meanings. Some of the things they represent are rebirth and innocence. I like the idea of a dagger carrying those meanings, since a dagger often is death and more of a loss of innocence. But maybe it's a protector too. Mera brings the sword not to ruin peace but to protect it.

The candle is being put out by the water. The water is everywhere, is it time and space? idk. Maybe time and distance puts out the candle of her emotions, because she has a tendency to ignore those in favour of more so-called practical matters. Maybe the waters represent change, since not everything lasts forever.

Actually I also plan on doing a matching portrait for the prince, my OC Erlis. There are words on the frame but I don't feel like translating them for you. They are in the conlang that I constructed and have decided is the language of this kingdom. I just like to add it to my art because it's fun.

I painted Mera's corset top thingy in Rebelle Pro 5 but then switched to Clip Studio because I prefer it and have had it for much longer. I'm used to it. But I liked how that came out so I kept it. I also sort of wish I changed how I drew her eyes, but I started this piece months and months ago and just came back to the lineart to recolor it and decided I finally liked it. So she has autism creature eyes. Mera is so autism creature to me <3 so it's fine

I may need to make Erlis not look too wildly different from her when I draw him too though ahgh

Oh well it's fine. I keep changing how I draw eyes, since I'm coming back to art after a long break it feels like rediscovering my style. Hopefully I can land on a style I like and stick to it and refine it a bit. I want to improve but I'm focusing on enjoying the process of creating art first and foremost. It's one of my most accessible hobbies after all, in terms of creation.
