Hey SpaceSleepers (40): Actually Talking About submarine

I realize that although I have talked at length about The Marías finally selling their music on the medium of CD and cassette, I never actually discussed my feelings on their new album "submarine". Starting with my favorite song on the album, "No One Noticed," I like how subdued this one is. It has such nice feeling to it, like being alone in a huge house at 11pm and just dancing a two person dance without caring, all the lights are warm and you've accepted your loneliness of pushing everyone away. Playing it from my CD, it feels like the song is surrounding me. It has to be the song I find myself coming back to the most to start myself off when I want to listen to the album on shuffle. I think another favorite has to be Sienna, perhaps because it would fit right in on the Superclean EPs, which have a special place in my heart along with Cinema.

I really like the concept of the album. The imagery about water and blue when it comes to anything is very beautiful to me, and the fact that it is based around the feelings of struggle in a relationship when you have avoidance is so artistic. Honestly I think this is such a genius aesthetic and concept that no one I know was more excited about this album than me, which is why I'm surprised this album contains the only song from The Marías that I had to warm up to. I don't hate it now or anything but when I first listened to it I had to listen to it a few times to really get a grasp for it. It still saddened me a bit considering they've been a huge fixation for me since I was in my first year of high school and the idea of not liking one of their songs to any degree is a little scary (07/16/2024).
