Few days ago I was wondering how roses grew in the wild. I have only ever seen roses grown from rose cuttings.
Is there someone in the forest cutting roses and planting and tending to them? Maybe.
Then I asked Google and..., ROSE CAN MAKE FRUIT!?
Yeah, apparently. They are called hips for some reason. //wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose_hip
But sadly the common varieties generally don't produce them, as they don't self-pollinate and they have thick packing of petals which make it hard for pollinators to do their job. Maybe hand-pollination is a possible workaround.
For now I will stick to rose cuttings.
Here is a rose for the road 🌹. Take care!
