Danmei for starters (where I started)

Danmei is a type of genre the google definition of it is as stated: "A Chinese genre of literature and other fictional media that features romantic relationships between male characters."

Almost all the writers in this area are very talented and I first stumbled across these types of books on TikTok, I had been feeling a lack of motivation when it came to reading and frankly speaking, had not touched my personal books since before 2020.

The first Danmei I ever read was The Scum Villian's Self-Saving System, I hold this book close to my heart due to how it got me back into reading AND for how it made me giggle throughout the entire series.

Self-Saving System or SVSSS is a book series revolving around a young man who transmigrated into a novel he kept hating, I don't want to spoil too much but he uses jokes I think personally as a way to cope; with all characters within the book series has their own personal backstories which I feel like authors might overlook sometimes.

with all that IF you want to start reading danmei definitely start with SVSSS, it's where I started and I still love that series to this day!
