That trump thing that just happened

This feels like the only place I feel like I can say what I think about this. I fucked up too hard on tumblr that it isn’t worth posting anything serious over there.

I’m certain we are all aware of the assassination attempt that happened recently. No doubt about it. Pretty sure anybody and everybody have mentioned it at least once. I have nothing to say about the incident itself.

But what worries me is that the far-right will use this to their advantage. Regardless on what motive the shooter had, they will create a narrative that this was an attack from ‘the wokes’. 

They will — in their delusions — blame the gay people, the trans folk, the feminists, and the people of colour for what happened and will shape the shooter in their own image regardless of what person they truly were. They will bring up that they “didn’t shoot anyone for disagreeing with us” in any argument with someone against far-right ideologies. They and Trump himself will use this to score more votes in the polls.

I’m trying to say everything I can about this but it seems that not everything I want to say can be properly translated from my mind into text. If the shooter was anti-Trump, he fucked up. Attempted murder just makes you an asshole regardless of what your reason is.

I worry about how the reputation of the only group of people with some sense of morality and empathy will be affected, I worry about how minority groups will be treated in response to this, I worry about what shit the far-right influencers will put out of their asses to an impressionable young audience.

They’re always laughing, laughing at suffering, laughing at anyone who wants to be treated like a human being. They see someone peacefully protesting for trans rights the same way someone would see someone shooting up a daycare centre. You just can’t reason with them. They’re not going to listen to any of us, but by god they will make sure they are heard.

I can’t think of how to end this. Then again, I guess this is only the beginning of a downward spiral of shit. 

I want off the ride, dammit.
