Today I completed most of the process I have been struggling with for the last 4 years, getting my name change done! I've been wanting to get my name changed since I was eight years old, sitting in the auditorium after doing one of the Scholastic Coke or Pepsi questionnaires that was bought with money my mom gave me to buy something at the yearly book fair. I was mostly just really stressed out by the idea of things going wrong or being manhandled by the people working there if I went alone, so I went last month with a friend who had already gotten his name changed a few years back. Honestly, I am really happy to have picked up the papers to send out to government agencies and perspective employers, etc. It makes me feel like I am my own person and I don't have to be haunted by the name that I have lived in the shadow of since I was a young kid. It makes me feel like I have control over my life and that it belongs to me, not someone else. It means a lot as someone who struggles deeply with the space I take up in my own life finally, which is really nice (07/13/2024). — Mars ᓚᘏᗢ |
