(first impression review)
Eminem's seemingly final project involving the character slim shady has finally dropped after a few months of hype and controversy, he actively tries to get himself canceled on this project.
this album is decent, some songs definetly drag on way too much for me. and eminem comes back with his signature flow. something i really liked on this was the concept, where slim shady the character comes back to haunt eminem by trying to get him canceled. the whole "rah im so controversial for not liking pronouns is so corny at this point" but this is all to prove why eminem hasn't come back to the slim shady character all that much, the whole point is that slim shady would be corny as fuck nowadays which is why i like the concept a lot. despite the unnecessarily ableist, racist, and transphobic which he especially points out the fact that in his words "doesnt want to memorize a cis man's pronouns" but hes obviously playing a charcater so i wont go all SJW on him lmfao.
eminem's lyricism is as good as its been, though at some parts still too good and too technical that its almost bad sounding but with him trying to go back to his roots the rhyme schemes are more enjoyable.
onto the actual song enjoyability. i personally didnt really enjoy most songs on this record, they were ok and i would listen to them in passing, but i would not come back to most of these. the only one i'd probably listen to a few more times is "Brand New Dance" where he returns to the sound that i expected him to do on this album, but i was disappointed that he did it a lot less than i expected. The JID feature on "Fuel" was a nice one tho.
Another thing, the album's tracklist should've ended at Guilty Conscious 2 because spoilers, he kills off slim shady, kills himself, and then he wakes up to find that it was all a dream which was an amazing point to end on. But the album goes on another 6 songs being about his children, how he was going through his drug use, not being present, or a good enough father. I know these are supposed to be like "if i wasnt slim shady then i wouldve treated them better" and all that but it was executed horribly.
overall this album personally wasn't really worth all that hype, but still pretty ok.
