The title really says it, I wish more and more people would start making stuff just because it's fun instead of doing it to try and make money or to potentially get famous. Sites like YouTube have been ruined by that imo since it feels like most people make stuff to try and make money out of it, rather than just doing something because it's something that they wanna do. I especially notice it with creators who've been doing stuff for a while (with a few exceptions), their earlier stuff tends to hit harder while the newer stuff feels like there's no soul or that they're doing it just for money/obligation at this point. Hell, even outside of YouTube it stands, Deviantart has been pushing more and more for me to try to sell my art even though I just do it for enjoyment, nevermind how that site has been just overrun by AI slop for a few years at this point.Β
The obvious exceptions are if you do something professionally as a career like video making or drawing, but otherwise you don't need to be a master of video editing and production or to be a master artist to just make something you enjoy. Even if you suck at it (initially anyway), you're having fun and that's all that matters.

If you don't have fun doing something you can't do it professionally.

I believe I wrote a blog talking about this same thing. I miss when people posted content on the internet they did it because they were interested in something and hope others who are interested would see it. Now It's all about chasing the bag and posting only if it makes money even if doesn't make them happy.
That's why I dropped doing dashcam videos and started making Alternate Universe TV and Windows Movie Maker style videos again because I like it and it's fun. I'm not doing it in hopes to make millions off of ads and merch and stuff.
