the grapes of misery

i recently learned that a couple weeks' worth of work for my maths research paper is completely useless.

i coded a little program on python to perform a fast fourier transform on some spectral data i got online, but it was only when i had the graphs in front of me that i realised my research objective was completely wrong and didn't make sense. those graphs weren't useful at all.

so yeah. that's what i get for actually putting in some work.

i do it completely wrong :]]

and i figured this out like the day before the deadline.

my teacher is an angel though, i sent her a frantic email and she said it was just part of the process and let me hand it in later.

regardless.

good news: i've been reading an absolutely excellent visual novel, Misericorde, which is always appreciated.

my favourite type of fiction is that which includes nuns/monks and is set in a monastery.

and this vn has exactly that.

it's a murder mystery set in a mediaeval abbey in the north of england. 

nuns killing each other.

it was on sale but i would have bought it even if it wasn't.

there's something so romantic about the middle ages to me.

it just has an appealing air of mystery.

i wrote a history paper on the cathars this year and that pretty much solidified my love for the period.

i love the cathars.

also ann radcliffe's novels are all pretty mediaeval

or at least feature mediaeval architecture.

if i weren't going into physics id probably do mediaeval studies (maybe a minor?)

getting back on topic.

the reason why i brought up Misericorde is that, for some reason, i've chosen to take it upon myself to translate the first volume into spanish.

yeah.

i bitch and moan about all the work i have to do and then i decide to not only add to that workload but impede the important stuff i have to do with an unpaid, uncredited translation probably  no one will ever read.

it will be a damn good passion project for my college application though.

and i guess that's always the goal isn't it?

well i hope you'll excuse this boring ass blog but i needed to share my misfortunes.
