DIYing

Jewellery can be a big part of outfits, but sometimes it's real expensive. And if you live in a shitty area like I do, almost impossible to come by. There's only 2 op shops here and the only jewellery they have are either gold or grandma-y. Buying online isn't all that great either, cuz I'm poor as shit and I'm anti-consumerist, so I make my own.

One of the things I've made is a wallet chain, from a bit of broken dog leash and 2 of those big safety pins I got off my mum when I was living with her. She's goth too n most of my stuff like that I've gotten off her. Another one of my things is one of them spiked cuffs, made out of the waist bit off a pair of denim shorts and screw-on spikes I had lying around. I don't really wear it but it's way better than the ones off AliExpress.

Back in 2023 I had these trash jeans I wore all the time, til they were literally falling apart about 6 months later because they were from fucking shein. Only thing I've ever bought off there. I had to repair them almost every day, and to do that I made my own patches from paint pen and alcohol markers. I still have them, but I don't wear them anymore, n I'll probably give them away. They fucking reek too. Stencils are real easy to make, what I did was grab a band's logo off google, put it in google docs, and trace it on some tracing paper I taped to my monitor screen. Then I put a layer of tape over it  so it wasn't as flimsy and cut it out. The ones on my trash jeans are still good, paint hasnt cracked or faded or anything. I still occasionally make patches, for my battle jacket.

Same goes for like, room decore. I'd go out with my friends, and I'd always come home with something in my pockets, like rubbish or trinkets n stuff. Then I'd tape it to my wall above my bed, now I've got a whole wall n a half full of random things taped to it. And it looks cool as, why have plastic vines and LED lights on your walls when you can have court doccuments and country casette tapes and cigarette boxes?

I think people should DIY their stuff a lot more, nowadays most people turn to fast fashion for their clothes and temu or something for accessories n whatever. DIYing is way more rewarding than waiting a week for copper jewellery and plastic clothes to arrive in the mail.

People underestimate how much of my accessories comes from the floor, a lost-and-found, or smth my friends borke and didn't want. Collecting can tabs to make chains is also a staple of my wardrobe
