hi i have a question to ask you!! ^_^
if you to use rpg maker, which version would you use?
- RPG Maker 95
- RPG Maker 2000
- RPG Maker 2003
- RPG Maker XP
- RPG Maker VX
- RPG Maker VX Ace
- RPG Maker MV
- RPG Maker MZ
personally i am using rpg maker vx ace, it has a front-view battle system by default, just like rpg maker 2000 and xp, but iirc you can also have it be optional in rpg maker mv & mz!
in rpg maker 2003 however, you can only have a side-view battle system. and before rpg maker xp there wasn't any scripting, so you cannot change the battle system gui in rpg maker 2003.

I currently use MZ (got it on sale yay!) and I love it mostly for how easy it is to implement scripts + it's much more customizable than most versions + it runs better than MV (actually tested it) + can make games for many systems including mobile phones.
I also own RPGM 2k3 + RPGM MV but I used MZ the most!!
