Hey SpaceSleepers (28):The Marías & Appealing to CD Audiences

I pre-ordered The Marías' recent album the moment that they dropped the pre-order date on Instagram, as I have been a long-time fan. I have liked the band since November 2017, which in a way makes me one of the older fans of the band, I guess, though I do know that they had local popularity before publishing their first EP to YouTube (where I found the band). My previous friends on Google+ had introduced me when it fell into their recommended tab and that's truly when I fell in love with their music, in my high school library. I have found out that a lot of the fans are sadly not that great and a bit rude from going to concerts, but that isn't something the band can control coming from someone who has met the band members and seen how kind they are in-person.

Considering how committed they were to physical media, this is the second album where they directly released it to CD. You could say that EPs are not as likely to be released physically, but I am acutely aware of how many vinyls that have been released by the band as it was one of the few physical releases. I am glad for the CD releases, as well as cassette (which I would also buy since my mother tossed out her old one), but I think The Marías releasing their albums on mediums other than vinyl is a signal for the CD and cassette TRULY coming back. It shows that it is less of a risk to release on those mediums than previously seen. I have loved both CDs and cassette for so long, even though they have worse longevity than vinyl because they deteriorate faster, they're a lot more portable. There's just something wonderful about laying in bed with your CDs and just enjoying the vibes (07/04/2024).
