Where did it all go wrong?

I decided to go back and watch the 2012 Presidential Debate with Barack Obama and Mitt Romney and all I can think is what the fuck happened? Where did it all go wrong and how did the US devolve as a country? Obama and Romney in the 2012 Debate look alive and they're both full of energy and excited to genuinely talk to each other and have a meaningful conversation with one another. They're also both very honorable and polite and civilized and respectful towards each other. Romney even congratulates Obama on his anniversary and at the beginning they're able to shake hands and smile together. No matter your political stance, I think you could commend both of their behavior during the debate. They're also both fairly young with Obama being 51 and Romney being 65 at the time. The whole thing felt like a legitimately serious debate. It felt like you could vote for a genuine favorite and both of them felt presidential.

Meanwhile in the 2024 Debate, Trump and Biden look like zombies with Biden literally being unable to piece together a coherent sentence and it felt like two old men just slinging shit at each other and arguing about who is better at golf. We also can't forget how the 2020 Debate felt less like a debate and more like a Modern Warfare 2 lobby. They're both so old they should probably be a retirement home (especially Biden) with Trump being 78 and Biden being 81. The whole thing felt like a cheap reality show made solely for entertainment. It feels like you have to vote for the least worst option out of two absolutely terrible choices and both of them feel absolutely incapable of being president and ruling a country. All the 2024 Debate accomplished was making me wanna go back to 2012.
