Freetube

No intro, everyone knows youtube, and everyone should know what a client is.

I've been using freetube ever since I swapped to Linux, and I can 100% call it the only way I watch youtube now. It's essentially a privacy-based yt client with a sh!t ton of customizations and QoL, as well as being adless(like it should be). The tradeoff is interaction - subscriptions don't add to a count, views don't, can't like or comment, and nothing you do on there affects youtube at all. That isn't a tradeoff- if what you did affected youtube at all, it wouldn't be private, would it?

In my setup, all it shows are my subscriptions, their most recent video, the search bar(you can toggle it). All else is gone- recommendations, history(tracked locally, deletable at any time), comments, shorts, community, popular, trending, likes, view counts. And all of those are toggleable on, too, but I don't miss them. That also isn't a comprehensive list of everything that can be toggled, just the main ones. If any of those have scorned you at any point, you can drop them like the useless junk they are. It's nice to know I've completed youtube for now, and that while there may be a new video soon(none of my 9 subscriptions upload frequently), I don't have to bother with it until then. Unobtrusive, private and simple. Give it a shot, and if you don't like it, just uninstall it- it's not a virus.

Looks cool, I was using a public Invidious instance while UBO was patching the new yt ad system, but I might try using this if it's any better.

In reference to the bulletin you should certainly make a guide or list of some sort to good alternatives to software and digital services. I did this with my blog the Based Software Collection if you want some reference or inspiration.

I actually started using Betterfox and 4get because of your blog, so I guess this is a belated thank you, since I never commented on the blog itself?

I might also change a "setup" blog to more physical stuffs(like my flip, laptop, mp3, etc), because on second thought, I didn't really use off-the-beaten-path stuffs as much as I thought. Granted, I'd still post the interesting programs and stuff I used to use that didn't go bad, but... idk.

glad the blog could help you in some way :) and yeah I'm sure whatever you'll write about will still be pretty interesting
