Hey SpaceSleepers (25): HypMic & How Unserious are the Funky Beats

Hypnosis Microphone has been a HUGE interest for me since 2018, which is about 2 years into its run, and a year before the anime officially dropped, leaving us only with Drama Tracks and (a bit into my blooming interest) a manga. I bought the CDs in a huge bundle this year and listen to them in between my other CDs. My favorite group is Fling Posse because I feel like they both have the strongest musical writing, as well as Yukihiro Nozuyama, the one of the better rappers in the cast of seiyuus. I love in division ensemble pieces when they get to FP and the music switches to a funky little melody that is so distinct from the rest but the lightness.

I will have to admit that this isn't a true recommendation, at least not in the same way as my typical one. HypMic is not particularly good in the ways of rap, a lot of the seiyuus are inexperienced in the field of rap, in that way not having particularly good flow. Although a lot of them have improved, the older CDs can be a rough listen for some and even the newer ones can be seen as subpar in the quality of music.
Moreover, a lot of people would tell you to not bother with the plot as the longer time goes on, the more King Records seemed to be confused that the plot needs to get more convoluted. I say this as a massive fan, as someone who wrote a fanfic that is on the occasional fandom iceberg, and thus with love. I adore this series with my heart and I still listen to drama tracks through my purchase of the physical media. I would suggest listening to it if you can kind of enjoy how unserious the funky sounds can get (07/01/2024).
