"My Carefree Life" is Ilid Kaolo's debut album, written by herself. The album won her three awards in the 23rd Golden Melody Awards (an annual Taiwanese Music Award Ceremony) in 2012: Best Indigenous Album, Best New Artist, and Best Aboriginal Singer. Ilid Kaolo herself is of Amis descent, also known as Pancah descent, the largest indigenous Austronesian ethnic group in Taiwan. The tracklist of the album includes ten songs. As a Non-Indigenous Taiwanese Wasian, you should take my opinion with a definite Grain of Salt, but I quite like the album. I think it is very cheerful at times and it makes me feel very warm when I feel a little down. I particularly like the title song, My Carefree Life (輕快的生活), and the sixth song on the tracklist, The City (城市), since they're very upbeat and feature very cheery instrumentals. I genuinely would recommend it if you want a nice album to relax to or put you in a good mood to do something. I got the album on CD earlier this year on eBay for a surprising $5 dollars secondhand. I just knew I had to get my hands on it because I find it to be such a nice little album. One day, I'll probably discuss my experience with getting CDs secondhand on a separate post but, for now, I would definitely recommend giving this album a listen! (06/30/2024) — Mars ᓚᘏᗢ |
