The 420 Report for July: Purple Raine! :D

This is going to be a special one to me for a few reasons. Being from Minnesota I've always been really proud of the artist Prince. (He had a house across the lake from my dad and step-mom's place in Chanhassen!) So when my plug told me the name of this month's strain I was super jazzed. Yes! X)

And this month I have two guest stoners, Gillette and Shelly! Gillette is a total lightweight while Shelly is more the experienced stoner, so I'll have some differing perspective on the strain as well! All right then, here we go! :D

Purple Raine is, according to Leafly.com, "  ...an indica-dominant hybrid cross of Purple Candy Kush x OG Kush x Chemdawg. This strain was bred by Taylor Lane Farms exclusively for 831 Organiks in the Summer of 2015 and is bursting with sweet, fruity aromas. Its genetics are built around potency and euphoria, leading to a heady rush of THC that naturally cascades over the body. Enjoy Purple Raine later in the evening to maximize the physical enjoyment this strain has in store."

Well, so much for the textbook answers. Let's take a look. The buds are medium sized, and yup, there's some purple in there! Lots of crystals of THC sparkling too.

For me, the smell is a nice mix of citrus and floral. Gillette thought she got "nutty, toasty, notes of mown grass with strong chamomile overtones." Shelly said it smelled like weed. X) 

We loaded a bowl into gandalf for the first clean hit. I got a sour taste at first, fading into just "weed flavor", didn't match the smell for me. (But oh well) Gillette's hit was so tiny I don't know that she got a good taste. (This is a woman that both Shelly an I have seen pass out from like, three hits! lol) Shelly got a piney flavor, she said.

As far as the high goes, we got very different reactions. I got a slow-to-come-on buzz but definitely a good start and right now I'm high as f*ck. Gillette said her high started "at the roof of my mouth and the went up into my head." X) And Shelly needed another hit. Shelly also noted it was a smooth smoke with a good draw, she felt it would be a good, mellow daytime high you could get stuff done with.

Gillette, we didn't ask her opinion, we just watched her get giggly and the forget her phone. Being high I forgot to get pics as we went along, I asked to recreate later on. Shelly didn't want her pic taken and no worries there, she says she has snoopy parents. But Gillette was a sport and let me take this one.  :)
