I think I just want a phone that makes phone calls and does text messages. Having the ability to play music would be nice but not required.
It's hard, though, because my non-dumb phone is also my car GPS and lets me check messages from work. It's all the hundred other things it does that I don't really like.
I don't like those things because I am weak and can't avoid them. I use social media way too much, the big ones I mean. Mostly Instagram. Like 90%. So I deleted it off my phone, to try to be better.
Instead of spending 2 hours a day watching reels and stories I'm going to just not do that. What good does it do me? None! It's two hours I could be reading or re-watching classic Simpsons episodes or improving my HTML/CSS knowledge.
I think a dumb phone would fix this, but the downside is the useful stuff I like. It'd be nice to have the good, helpful stuff (maps, music, email) but the stuff that trips me up (all the other stuff) was unavailable, but the middle road here is to just remove the bad stuff from my smart phone.

I heard that the Nokia 5710 Xpress Audio is pretty good. It's a feature phone. not quite dumb and not quite smart. It's like a phone from 2004. Thing is I don't know where to buy one myself. Around the world and the trend growing here in America over 1 billion dumb phones has sold at least the 2023 numbers as more people are trying to disconnect.

I switched to a dumbphone(TCL Flip 2)(I call it my flippy, because it flips) a few months ago for similar reasons, and it works great for me. It mainly texts and calls, but it also has a (shitty) camera, generic calendar, clock, notes, and calculator apps, as well as a file manager (for micro SD storage), music app(for flac/mp3/ogg/etc.) and email. It's pretty close to what you're describing, minus the GPS. I'm pretty sure some dumbphones have GPS on them, although the ones I've seen also have youtube installed, so there's most likely a sacrifice to make somewhere.
