why is fashion so boring now??

Hey y'all!

This is my first blog post, so please try not to be too much of an asshole :p

I live in Australia, so my concerns are mostly with the current Australian fashions of teen girls. But please let me know if it's like this in your country!

So, I recently just had a mufti day, which, for those who aren't Australian may not know, is a day when we can wear something other than the school uniform. Usually during mufti days you would have to bring in a gold coin donation for wearing non-uniform clothes that goes to some sort of charity. And I just have to say, people were seriously paying a gold coin to wear that?! I mean, come on!

Most girls wore leggings and an oversized hoodie, and I just had to stop and think (wearing my bootleg jeans with rhinestones on the back pockets, bright pink t-shirt, white puffer jacket, hoop earrings, a diamond heart necklace and Ugg boots), what the fuck?

Mufti days are supposed to be fun, why are you wearing the most basic shit ever? Some people even had crocs on. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with what these girls wore, and I'm certainly not trying to make myself look like the quirky and different one, but it just weirded me out at how basic most of these beautiful girls were dressing. Sure, comfort over style, especially when it's colder than that ice cream you pulled out from the deep dark trenches of your freezer, but you could make it a bit more...better looking.

Accessorise, put some nice earrings on, wear a chain, bracelets, anything. Add some colour to it. But no, these girls were going BASIC basic. It made me wonder why women's fashion in general was getting so boring. Walk into a store like cotton on or ally and they'll have tons of pretty clothes, so why aren't these girls wearing them? I understand that these clothes are expensive, I can't even afford them myself, but even K-mart is starting to get better clothes.

I just believe that we should all try being a bit more experimental with our clothing. Try a different style, be unique, try a different type of pants, try a different shirt, try a different colour, try...a colour. Girls should take advantage of the fact that we are able to buy and wear clothes that are way less boring than men's clothes, stop following the clean girl trend and wearing the sad beige clothes.

Put the white fox hoodie down my love, try the cargo pants at least.
