I bet if they pay any attention at all to it gen z (or gen alpha which is actually same age I was when the song/video came out!!!) will just tell each other "they didn't even have youtube back then, that's why"...

Why on earth did people play Tragedy at their weddings? If it was a registry office do, the bride might even walk in to it playing 🙄
The video was about brides running off with other men & grooms being "kidnapped". Not very romantic.
The name being "tragedy". Yes when it came out, I needed to look it up in a dictionary. But I was 10. Adults getting married should know, tragedy = sad.
It was all over the TV like switch on totp or smtv or, if you had Sky, mtv and you'd see it. If you hadn't, maybe use a different CD?
So I'm thinking it's 3 things. 1 sense of irony & humour so doing it on purpose 2 it's the kinda danceable tune that's fun at weddings (with a set dance and everything) or 3 (reception only) a kinda "well we married even if they didn't in the music video sense of relief.
