SEKLUSYON (foreign horror movie review X"3)

ok so to cut the bs the movie is a 4/10 on my opinion very cool premise but AAAAAAA the execution esp on the 2nd half of the film was such a let down :"[[[[

the movie's really cool if u f heavy w the use of religious elements in horror (esp catholicism) the trope is mainly about false messiah and blind devotion

(TW: mention of suicide, rape, and abuse)

++++++++SPOILERS AHEAD IF U WANNA WATCH IT +++++++

the story center around 4 deacons in the post-war philippines (dudes who are in the process of being officially a priest) who are put in seclusion/seklusyon, hence the title, (a tradition in catholic church where the deacons are put in a secluded area for some days to put them away from materialistic desires/sin) 

the 4 deacons were later revealed to have heavy sins/past that's holding them back toward being true/good servants of God

Marco was glutinous, siblings died in war because he ate all their food or sum like that

Carlo (via subtle hints in the film) turned out to be a kid diddler

Fabian was abusive to women as a result of being abused by his mother and the reason why he turned to priesthood was actually just to escape from their household

Miguel (the mc) left his lover Erin who unbeknownst to him was pregnant at that time to pursue his vocational ambition (Erin killed herself and the body of their child was later on revealed to be used by the devil, Ngahela, to do it's evil deeds as false prophetic/miraculous child, Anghela)

so to cut the story short the journey of these 4 deacons became harder when Anghela, along with sister Cecilia (a nun raped and burned by jap soldiers who was healed by the devil/child, Anghela, and now acts as the child's servant as an exchange of the miracle done unto her) came to the seclusion and tested their morals/principles by pushing them to indulge in their materialistic desires

the movie ended with Miguel killing Anghela and disappearing while the 3 remaining deacons continued to be blessed/officially become priests after finishing their stay in the seclusion

there was a lot of good themes/concepts that were unfortunately not explored enough by the movie or if it were, the execution was done poorly :"<<<
