a step back from modern technology

recently, i’ve reverted back to a flip phone since i’ve become self-aware on just HOW MUCH TIME i’m wasting away on my mobile phone — on tiktok, instagram, etc. since this means i can’t do a lot of things that you could do on your phone (e.g., games), i’ve come back to spacehey to find something to do instead.

something i’ve realised lately is how BLAND social media is and how it’s not really social as it is media. it doesn’t take a genius to realise how boring the formatting is in other social medias. the extent of customisation ends at a profile picture and a banner, if you’re lucky. spacehey’s (which is really just myspace the sequel), customisation experience, however, is some of the best and most interesting shit i’ve ever experienced! personally, modern social media is more so about watching others, influencers, and wanting to be just like them. i feel like if there’s any sort of social in social media, its the parasocial relationship between a public figure and their followers. it’s not a real place to find friends— real friends.
