I'm just so over "friendship" :(
Like, what's the point, really? Everyone is just out for themselves, using each other for their own selfish gains. It's all just one big networking game, you know? -_-
I mean, think about it - how many of your so-called "friends" are really there for you, no strings attached? Probably not many. (;テ﹏テ)
Most people just want to be your friend so they can get something out of it. Maybe they want to get in good with your rich aunt, or get a job recommendation from your super successful and stunning brother!! (─.─||)
And let's not even get started on the whole "emotional support" thing. Since when do humans actually care about each other's feelings? They're all just too busy trying to one-up each other and climb that social ladder.
The second you stop being "useful" to someone, they drop you like a bad habit.
Maybe I'm just a cynical edgelord, but I'm starting to think true friendship isn't real !!
Humans are all just selfish, self-serving creatures at the end of the day. And the sooner we all accept that, the better off they'll be.

I respectfully disagree. This is the reality that a lot of people foster and want to be real, especially in economic worlds, but I deny the fact that humans are inherently like that. It's easy to blur the line between inherent habits and instilled habits, but I believe the self serving nature of humans is instilled, be it through society revolving around money and success, through bigotry and discrimination, or through any other means, but I truly believe humanity didn't start out like that. You're probably right about 'most people' being like this, because it's a really convenient path to go down nowadays, and your frustrations are rooted in really real, upsetting issues. But I also think there's a lot of lovely people out there who can and will love unconditionally, really just because either I've met a few people like them or I think there's so many people living there kind of has to be

I get where you're coming from, I really do. And yeah, maybe there are some good people out there somewhere, but I sure haven't had the pleasure of meeting them. Honestly, my perception of humanity has just been completely ruined by the people I've had to deal with, you know?
I used to think maybe there were some decent humans out there, but after seeing the way the people in my life have behaved, I'm just not so sure anymore.
Everywhere I turn, it's the same story - people looking out for number one, stepping on others to get ahead, turning a blind eye to the suffering of their fellow humans..
I wish I could be as optimistic as you, but honestly, the well of my hope for humanity has just about run dry. I've seen too much, been let down by too many people, to really believe that there's this great wellspring of goodness and compassion just waiting to be tapped.
At this point, I'm just trying to protect myself, you know? I can't afford to keep opening myself up to heartbreak and disappointment. So yeah, maybe I'm a bit jaded and cynical, but hey, at least I'm being realistic about the state of the world, right? (;´∀`)
