it's been way too hot to wear my battle jacket for the past few months and i miss it </3 so i'm just going to show it off here instead
it's a swiss military jacket with the top row of pockets taken off, spikes on the shoulder flap things and a load of patches thrown on! no specific theme for the patches - just things i like, mainly bands. i have a leather jacket specifically for hardcore punk as well - might show that one off at some point too
all patches handmade by me with cheap paint pens and random scrap fabric :3
and this jacket is forever a work in progress, i'm always changing things around

fun fact the operation ivy patch was the first one i ever made!! this is also mini gamer area, sonic and portal
this part is my little homage to crustpants, mainly because i was really into aus-rotten specifically at the time. had to get crass, subhumans, ramones and a bit of politics on there too! the "shelf" thing for the safety pins has proved so very useful - having safety pins on your person when you wear mostly diy stuff that could fall apart any second is very helpful lmao
pocket number one! tough to get a good picture of all of the stuff on it, but the patches are hanoi rocks, bayside, public image ltd., hüsker dü, pink floyd, the smiths, talk talk and against me!. a lot of variety haha. the against me! patch is one of my favourites
other side! garfield, the other half of the portal patch, little pride flag, the clash and dead kennedys. another fun fact, i have had two people comment i don't need the pride flag because i look queer enough anyways lmao
probably my favourite part of the whole thing, and that's not entirely because of the manic street preachers patch i promise... but i do love that one. getting the red paint to stick to that weirdly textured fabric was a pain! we also have echo and the bunnymen, david bowie, kraftwerk (a bit of a mess from the rain... made that one before i discovered waterproof pens) and a nice sparkly fabric. there are also some tiny blood stains here, which i really want to lie and say are from a fight but no i just had a nose bleed
the other front pocket is the first part i finished. interpol, blur, system of a down, my chemical romance, sugarcult, car seat headrest and the little falling guys from the elliott smith album cover. this was also pre-waterproof pens... and shadow the hedgehog's symbol!
onto the back now! i forgot to take pictures of the top part of the back but there's descendents, linkin park, suede, circle jerks, hawthorne heights, einstürzende neubaten, big*flame, discharge, black flag and a big joy division back patch. also a chain of pop tabs which really enjoy falling off
the biggest pocket, we got johnny rotten bart simpson (another of my favourites), rush, r.e.m., modest mouse, the chameleons and g.l.o.s.s. in the corner. that chameleons patch was. very tricky. but i am so happy with how it turned out! one of my favourite bands!
the other back pockets are simple enough; nirvana, bauhaus, minor threat, man or astro-man? and depeche mode
sleeves! the back of this sleeve has a little radiohead bear and a fly which i kind of want to do some shading on one day but i'm scared to mess it up...
the front has a line from let down by radiohead that i really like. i spent sooo long trying to decide on what lyric to put here, in the end my debate was between "fifty knuckle shuffle heavy metal machine" from introducing the band by suede or "one day i am gonna grow wings", i picked this one because it was shorter
other sleeve! aberdeen is dead and cysteke. at first i was a little worried about having a red, black and white stripe on my sleeve... but i went with it because i thought it would be funny if someone thought i was a nazi and instead discovered my favourite obscure furry metal artist
(lighting change! ahh!) i have a bunch of chains i hang from the sleeve, and a little aroace flag kandi star! i have a germs armband that i often wear here just under the patches but i can't find it :(

alright that's all i cannot recommend making a battle jacket enough... super fun, dead cheap, looks cool as fuck and you get to show off all your favourite things

UR BATTLE JACKET IZ SO WICKED DUDE WHAT!!! man the soda can tab chain on the jacket is such a good idea.. been making one but I didn't know what to do w it.. I still gotta save up on fabric scraps to put down on bits idk what to do with.. UG ANYWAY UR BATTLE JACKET IS SO SICK!!1!11! u have so much talent dude, all of that with just cheap paint pens and fabric scrapz is wild
