ok i know its so crazy to say “isnt it an ethel cain summer” but tell me it isnt. like i am listening to preachers daughter so much and taking it all in because ive realized so many things about it. so FOR EXAMPLE!! it’s not a female rage album at all, which is definitely what i mistook it for in the beginning. i think it’s centered so much more around internalized misogyny (strangers!!! that song is literally something i could talk about for hours), regret, and fear. and it makes me so sad that the entire time she is seeking love from her mother and it’s just not there / as accessible anymore because of how far gone she is…. not to mention that she seeks (might not be the right word, definitely debatable…) motherly love from the willoughby’s mom even though its soooo unconventional and insane. anyway, someone talk to me about this because im losing my mind!!!
