10// the Sun

hey guys!!

The Sun is a typical yellow star, type G. It is a population 1 star, which means it is a relatively new star created from material left behind by the supernovas of other stars.

Sun is made of 4 layers. The outer, visible one is called a photosphere. The Sun's photosphere has a temperature of around 6000K.

The core of the sun has a temperature of around 15 million K. Between the photosphere and the core is a radiative zone, where photons radiate outwards through to the surface and move freely in space. Above the radiative zone is the convection zone, where material far from the core cools down, which allows it to sink back down and heat up, and repeats this process.

The Sun has an atmosphere too, and it's made out of 2 parts.

The first part, closer to the surface is called the chromosphere and has a temperature of 6000K

The second part (bigger and farther away from the surface) is called the corona and has a temperature of approx. 1 million K. This weirdly high temperature is probably caused by the magnetic field.

The magnetic field creates sun spots, which are the black spots on the surface of the Sun, as well as solar flares. Solar flares are eruptions of hot plasma in the chromosphere.

Solar winds are caused by the corona constantly emitting a stream of high-energy charged particles, moving through space in all directions. Solar wind can go very far, and it can go as far as the heliosphere.

that's abt it!! feel free to add stuff/correct me :D
