One Year No TF2

It's been a year since I've last installed Team Fortress 2.

I was already pretty burnt out by 2020 or so, admittedly. A game I used to love and enjoy for years had exhausted all the amusement I could extract from it as a kid as I pivoted towards my own little project as my go-to game. This way before the bot crisis but my relationship with the game grew more and more distant with that and an incident where I was scammed out of a good bunch of my favorite items. To tell the truth, I do not think TF2 is a good game in general when it comes to well designed classes and weapons. Not to say that none of the tools or classes are interesting or well made, just that by and large TF2 is not good.

It is funny seeing #SaveTF2 and #FixTF2 hashtags everywhere knowing this. Valve does not care about the game and it's sad seeing people in such delusion thinking that they will care about a 17 year old game that hasn't been in an actually good spot in about a decade. Yet still, they persist. Drunk eyes blurring lines between stupidity and bravery, it's something they will continue to do for years and years as Valve continues to make millions off Steam and they slowly but surely continue to play despite their "boycott" attempts, like addicts to the liquor store. While it is very sad seeing this metaphorical ant circle, I would be lying if I didn't think it was funny seeing people who haven't realized the fruitlessness of the task. Time and time again, I'll see some little kid on my twitter timeline begging people to continue to support TF2's endeavors and, honestly? After how vitriolic TF2's fanbase was to any potential competitor or similar game, I do not think TF2's fanbase deserves sympathy from anyone not within its circles. The harassment fans of other games endured from obnoxious man-children has finally come around to bite them in the ass and I couldn't be happier for the fact, and I hope to see that the game finally dies and that people learn a lesson on making too many enemies and pompous ignorance.
