Honestly, I'm so tired of the constant content like "YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE".
You click on one video with that motivational content and your feed immediately fills up with a ton of the same motivational content. And it's very easy to get lost in it. And it would be so much easier if it wasn't one big trap.
You're interested in one video, and then you watch videos of a similar nature, and every motivational video tells you that your life is bad, and that if you're unhappy with something, you should just drop everything and start changing it, and it's a good thing you opened that video, because you're not going to be told the same thing you're told everywhere else. You're definitely gonna get help here! But for some reason the coaches don't tell you that it's not laziness or lack of motivation that is responsible for the behaviour. "Smile more!" they advise when you physically can't smile.
This is a problem with the internet in general. Content that should be specific is always presented as if it's a panacea for everyone. You will definitely be a god after this video. And the bullshit is that we're so used to it that we often don't realise that some content really is specific. (The "what about me?" is born.)
I've noticed with myself that when I start watching this type of content, I do feel a boost of motivation at first, but then it's like I slip even lower than I was before.
I think "yes, I can change!" but then I collapse into circumstances that devalue my work and I get frustrated with myself. And yet at this point I'm bombarded with videos along the lines of "your life is miserable" and "change yourself". There's no energy left for these videos and i just agree with the titles. Algorithm doesnt know what "enough" is. And i have to do extra work to clean my fyp and understand what im about to watch BEFORE clicking on the video.
My point... how about we stop blaming ourselves for everything? How about you stop thinking about what's wrong in your life and just do what you want to do? What if to live happy life you dont need to be completely healed and fixed?
Because constant need to fix and heal something in yourself makes you delay your life. It's not "ill start living after i lose some weight", it's "ill start living when i fix every mental thing i have". And good morning. When you go outside and see real people... you realize... they are not perfect too! And it's okay!
Your life doesnt stops when you have mental illness, imperfect body, imperfect job or just some annoying worm that tells you things.
You can change. But that doesnt mean you can change everything at once or you have to pause everything before you stop being <insert anything>.
I dont know if you understand what i said... but let's this thought dump stay here.
