One thing to know about me is that I am a huge fan of claw machines. I have played them since I was a kid and used to be known by my friends as the guy who played the claw machines (as long as they were) fair. I won my first claw machine when I was 13 at an amusement park with my grade. It was close to the end of the year and my friend Sophia and I pressed against a claw machine for a few pokemon starters, specifically Tepig, Snivy, Oshawott, and (surprisingly considering it isn't a Gen V starter) Pikachu. I was pining to get the Pikachu plush and Soph wanted the Tepig one. It wasn't too much of a risk, it was only $1 and I wanted to try it out, so I got myself my Pikachu after 2 or 3 tries at it and then I tried to get a Tepig for her. I ended up being able to get the tepig, but it got tossed in the machine next to it because there was no wall separating them. I tried to ask a worker but was denied it being fished out of the neighboring machine and had to just try a second time to get my friend hers. I kind of miss when claw machines were a dollar honestly. I feel like they're kinda overpriced now, usually between $5 and $2 dollars. Maybe the money just feels more weighty now that I am an adult and not like 12 or 13. Another pet peeve of mine is that some places with claw machines don't really keep them up to functionality. See, claw machines need to be, like most machines, tuned up. They need to have the screws on the claw sometimes tightened so that they don't drop the prize directly after picking it up. I don't just mean that the prize slips out of the claw, i mean that the claw wraps around the prize perfectly and then goes right through it without even picking it up. It's one of those things that really urks me and made me stay away from claw machines for a few years after constantly seeing them in places while being badly kept. (06/19/2024). — Mars ᓚᘏᗢ |
