Random long entertainment and culture rant.

Everything awesome and cool is being pussified in the market for "modern audiences" and its being done so hard, that to express the notion that you see it itself, is itself being run into obscurity by being made cringe through being clichΓ© from repeated exposure, in a long game of cultural attrition.

The punk DIY ethic was a seed. including things like SCP foundation and other purely mass niche culture concepts that the fans own and culturally engineering corporatism can only dabble in, because theres nothing to buy. they can only add to, not BE it, and then it comes under the brutal, and righteous scrutiny of that niche groups gatekeeping elitism.

which modern times have shown me we are in DIRE need of as we watch every one of our favorite things, our modern myths and heroes get raped by the concern for "modern audiences".

the grass roots cost nothing collective world building of communities needs too be a conscious thing and it needs to be done more often, to counter the centralized power structure of entertainment and its diseased mechanisms.

punk rock diy ethic, the creepypasta, backrooms, scp foundation etc etc grassroots collective from a niche community mechanism of creation needs to be the source, least for some decades, of all our new heros and stories and works of imagination shared among the culture.
I think how these things operate, (along with things like freeware etc) need to expand, more niche communities of this sort need to come into existence representing their communities,
and those communities need to gatekeep them fucking viciously.Β  you are them or you fucking arent.
then maybe the true art of these things can be preserved without the outside poison of thinly veiled subversive and controlling intent.

if a community can make SCP where no one really owns it,

well then a community can birth an entire warhammer 40k style universe and lore without the molestation of the corporate fuckwads who run it. agreeing upon the canon through community.
The entire marvel universe could easily be created in such a way.

it could take some talented writers to say "this is not mine, i did it for my people, and my people continue to make it theirs, and make it bigger every day. but i did NOT do it for ANYONE ELSE...."

other then that in a more simplistic way if you feel the top tier production community is poison then you should put more effort into supporting the little dogs, and take for granted their shortcomings in hopes that such support undercuts the giants and rises new heroes in your entertainment community.
The top is diseased. steal every movie, every game, every show.
donate to any project of a hundred random fucking dudes in buttfuck minnasota who wanna do something awesome.
and try to not be too big a dick about the guns looking a lil too fake.

but hear this. if you steal from triple A gaming, if you steal hollywood or netflix etc etc movies,
you are doing a service. along with those gents 3d printing warhammer figures themselves out of spite. Criminals, and fucking HEROES.
If you know someone that wants to watch the new marvel or star wars or whatever, some shit you think is being but fucked by certain groups with certain interests, whatever that may be,
steal that shit FOR them if they aint savvy enough.

i know it may sound weird that im down with the DIY punk ethic as a libertarian but the two go together much more than most would think.

Creative communities being distinctly separate and elitist is a good thing. Every niche should have its stone cold hard core tribe. it is actually what preserves the framework of artistic diversity, rather than it all turning into meaningless throw away amorphous sludge.
Gatekeeping is good.

My sister has been saying this for a while now. We should just gatekeep to keep people from ruining good things. That being said, what happened in the SCP fandom? I haven’t heard a thing from that fandom.
