How to prevent cheesy writing

Okay, a disclaimer: I am NOT a professional! This blog is one of the millions of resources, some are more helpful than this one. I advise to read up on more stuff if this doesn’t help you out or you need more reference. Thank you!

————————————————————————————————————————————————

Number one, PLOT.

The plot can be as predictable or as unpredictable as you want, but there’s ways to work out a predictable plot without boring the audience. Personally speaking, the best way to make a predictable plot work is how it’s executed. Let me explain, you can for example, elevate a seemingly minor character, kill off a seemingly important character. Foreshadow a certain event and add emotional moments on characters individual struggles. The plot can be as obvious as you want, but you’d have to execute the story well enough for this to be successful.

Next, Character Development™️.

See my ‘How to make a character’ Blog for more reference.

A character needs to naturally mature and learn new things throughout the story, but we can’t cure their flaws and consider it as character development the second a character yells about it. The key here is to make them understand their flaws and learn how to accept and adjust themselves, for example, a passionate yet hot tempered character slowly learns how to adapt and control their temper.

Lastly, Writing Male and Females correctly.

This one’s very common, I don’t even think I have to write this but for the sake of my endless yapping, I’d have to. You can set a balance between the two, break rules and stereotypes and y’know…prevent the obvious fan service.

That’s it for now, till we meet again!
