how to change startup/shutdown sounds on windows 11 (for beginners)

we're gonna start by opening 'registry editor' which comes with windows 11. so, press the windows icon + R to open the 'run' app. then, type in 'regedit'

once your in the app, go to AppEvents > EventLabels then scroll down to Windows Login and Windows Logoff.

you're gonna want to press 'ExcludeFromCPL', then set the value to 0. once your done, go to the control panel.

after you open the control panel, go to hardware and sound, then click 'change system sounds.' scroll down till you see rather 'logon', 'logoff', or both. click one, then click on the sounds tab, or upload your own sound (browse...)

then press apply, and ok. it should save as Windows (modified).

this might not work on newer versions of Windows 11
