Well, first english is not my first language so.. sorry if I make a terrible mistake (。╯︵╰。)
Ok, the book is a part 2 of The Shinning, which I really love it bc of the tension of King's writing in the climax, it was amazing! Definitely a surprise (big recommendation btw). So I had high expectations for the continuation of the story, and the plot seemed very promising...
But, it wasn't lol, the mechanisms that were so explored in the first book were left completely aside in the sequel, a new plot that used the main environment of The Shining as a vague reminder that it was that continuation and not a completely separate book.
This book addresses sensitive topics such as alcohol abuse and the protagonist's progress in freeing himself from his addiction (a fact that was a great contrast in the first book, where drinking was a gateway to all the disaster that had happened), but still, it didn't seem like a continuation, or rather, it didn't seem like the same universe of characters, apart from the fact that the justification for the events was very weak and (I would say) sloppy.
Otherwise, this book is reasonably good, I wouldn't say excellent, much less a book written by this author... Do I recommend it? Nah, I don't think I'd ever get over the first one (ᵕ—ᴗ—)
