How to work out The Parallel dynamic

In a lot of genres, The Parallel Dynamic between 2 characters is common. And I see a lot of ppl who mess this up, (I’m also using this as an excuse to yap about storytelling) so here’s a couple of important questions:

1: “What are the differences between the characters?”

2: “If they have the same problem, how will the two characters react?”

3: “How do they develop as a character together?”

4: “What are their goals? How do they strive to make that goal a reality?”

5: “What is their philosophy on things?”

These questions help me understand the dynamic more, hopefully it can help you as well. 

Their dynamic can also depend on how major the characters are or maybe it’s a major character between a minor character.
