the world is a weird place man

so i'm sitting at the bus stop today, and i pushed up my sleeve to check my watch. there's this mom and her kid (probably like...five or so idk) also there, and this little girl is just staring at me but y'know, little kids do that so i just kind of pretend not to notice.

and she turns to her mom and goes "mommy why doesn't that boy's watch have a picture on it like mine?"

and the mom goes "that's how all watches used to be sweetie they didn't have pictures on them like yours!" and basically starts explaining non-smartwatches to her. i'm still pretending like i don't hear any of this but out of the corner of my eye, i see this girl just staring at this hot pink watch on her wrist with a screen bigger than her hand like she just can't make sense of it

like no hate to the kid at all, it's not like she can know better but it was just super weird to experience. wonder what she'd think if she saw an analog clock or a flip phone rofl
