Let me tell you a story
A tale as old as time
Of when the sun loved the moon
So listen to this tale of mine
The Sun stood tall and bright
A friend to all he was
His rays would reach all over
No, he never felt a loss
But the moon was calm and cold
So beautiful in the night
To all those who couldn’t slumber
She’d comfort with her light
Through day and night
Went the sun and moon
Unknowing that their meet
Would be very soon
When the sun first met the moon
He almost couldn’t speak
He shut his mouth and stopped and stared
He’d never been so meek.
However the moon was not impressed
By the sun’s shy display
She wouldn’t fall for his tricks
No, she told herself, not today
And so they danced around each other
For centuries on end
Unwilling to just talk
They continue to pretend
As the years go by
Their stories slowly forgotten
Until I met you
And memories start to soften
For you are my moon
So beautiful and cold
And I am your sun
All bright and bold
Now you know the truth
Of this tale as old as time
So consider my story
And consider being mine…
